Dear Readers,
You all we left Kansas City this morning to head on to our destination of St. Louis. Then a big RUSSELL STOVERS sign caught our attention in Booneville, Missouri and we had to pull off to buy chocolate. RUSSELL STOVERS chocolates are in the first chapter of my book and boy howdy, did we get some chocolate bargains. Some pretty nice samples too! I swain that Joyce Smith is a clown with a crown kissing that chocolate sign.
Then we headed on over to the Bopper's Cafe right off the interstate in Booneville. Angela and Cindy were our waitresses. Check out the fine dining at Big Boppers. We added a rhinestone tiara pin so you all could get the drift on the size of the porportions. One of the waitresses told us to eat up the bread pudding as she had already had five helpings and she just could not resist. Mine had a lemon sauce and I couldn't agree more.
We met an interesting couple from Columbia, Missouri who highly recommended Bopper's Cafe, see photo of Billie and Jim Silvy. They were just one booth over and told us we were having too much fun! We invited them to Jefferson and they were going to be sure and check out my book too.
After we checked into our fine hotel in St. Louis, three restaurants and a movie theater in the house, I settled in the swanky setting while the posse' headed out to check out the hotel. Woo Wee, they brought back sushi and I got all my emails answered.
That evening we drove over to Left Banks Books and had a very nice front window feature in the store! I, of course, had to point that out. We met some incredible women who came to the event including author, Judy Larsen, of "All the Numbers" and she ended up winning the BIG HAIR makeover. One of the staff selected the winner (see photo) but I do find it uncanny the girls that are winning. I think it is a God thing. Sue in the blue with me is in four book clubs and gave a wonderful testimony that she owes her love of reading to her parents. What a literacy leader! There is the bunch of us gathered at Left Bank Books and as you can see we all had a blast! I hope you enjoy the photos of Judy receiving her new look, perfect for our HAIR BALL coming up at our annual Girlfriend Weekend, Jan. 18 -19, 2008 (go to www.bulldurhamplayhouse.com or call 903-665-6487 and scroll down for working program).
Here are some photos of some of the attendees. We even gave the bookstore cat, Spike, a couple of new do's! Not sure if he was all that receptive of the new look but we sure had a good time. Last is a photo of staff members Erin Goss and Ann Foxen with me at Left Banks Books! We had a really special time at this icon community bookstore and recommend that if you are in the St. Louis area to please check it out! Besides, I have left plenty of signed copies of my books too!
Tiara wearing and Book Tour sharing,
