We MUST take the time to take care of ourselves. Tomorrow is Valentine's Day!
Until last year, I would get the "full boat" of romantic items: roses, candy, Teddy bears, balloons, cards - from various and sundry suitors. My girlfriends would alway say that their "sig-others" didn't "believe in Valentine's Day". And I told them that I informed all of my guys that I didn't "believe" in a lot of the things that I did for them, but I did them! So the gifts had better be forthcoming! You gotta bring them up to YOUR standards and never let them drop down!
Now, many of us may not have or want a man in our lives right now. So we should be our own "lovers". I'm taking BadLady404 out tomorrow night. First, we are having a nice dinner. Then it's off to the movies to see the release of "Daddy's Little Girls". She's never been one for "chick flicks" but if you've ever watched the first few seasons of "The Wire", you'd know where I'm going with this. That fine young "tenderoni" ('bout 35) Idris Elba - British, chocolate, excellent actor, who looks good as hell in a suit. But, in the movie trailer, I think I saw him in a "wife beater" undershirt! OMG!! (I can't get into in the political incorrectness of the term "wife beater" right now, Sisters, because all I can see is his biceps and lips right now!!)
Then when we get home, I'm going to run BadLady404 a nice hot bath, scented with lavender. Then she's going to put on those silk pajamas that she's been saving for "that special night", get on those 600 thread-ct. Egyptian cotton sheets that she was saving too, pop in a CD full of R&B ballads starting with The Whispers singing "In The Mood" and closing with Teddy Pendergrass' "Turn Off The Light". Then "BL404" will settle down with some Godiva chocolates and "Vanity Fair" magazine. When she wakes up in the morning, she's going to look in her mirror and say "It was good for me - was it good for you, Boo?" And she's going to feel soooo great!
Girls, it's not too late to prepare! If you can't get everything together by tomorrow, Feb. 14th, then plan it for Friday or Saturday night. Just think, all of the Valentine stuff will be 50% to 75% off by then!
Now this includes you married sisters whose husband may drop the ball tomorrow. Don't start an argument which will stress you out much more than him. Love yourself for a day! Do it more than once a year (my birthday is February 19th so I get to indiscriminately eat chocolate again!!)
