I was looking my Bible reference pages one day and all of the names attributed to Jesus in Scripture were listed. I had fun listing them out and "gathering them up" and this was the result. In some cases, I didn't give the verse or even chapter reference~~it's always good exercise for me to re-read and relocate truths in the Word if I don't immediately recall where it is! Ann

Genesis 3
The record of Genesis 3 gives us the account of the first sin in the garden when man decided to put his own wants and desires before those of God. Their disobedience to God’s will, thus Sin, caused them to be ejected from the paradise God had placed them in, and marks the beginning of a work by both man and God to restore man to his original position in fellowship with God and with his creation.
Man has since tried everything in his own power to win himself back to God, back to his original standing, back in fellowship with the creator. So far as I know, Man has never succeeded!
But God has Himself succeeded in making a way for man to be reconciled back to God.
Here in the 3rd ch of GENESIS we learn about the serpent who convinces Eve to focus on the pleasantries of the sin rather than the results and goes on to share it with her husband. Adam concedes only to reap the results of disobedience.
Genesis 3:6 (KJV) And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
1) good for food
2) pleasing to the eyes
3) desirable to make one wise
Genesis 3:7 (KJV) And the eyes (understanding) of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
And so this verse is what men and woman still are doing today, making aprons to cover themselves, that their sin would be hidden from God.
Man has attempted through the years to hide his sin, fix the problem himself and present himself worthy before God instead of looking at what God has done for him and receiving with thankfulness all that God has accomplished for him.
Previous to sending man out of the garden God gives them a covering of his own making.
Genesis 3:21 (KJV) Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
This is the first record of a blood sacrifice to cover man’s sin. (obviously the animals that gave up their skin also gave up their lives.)
While we are here in Genesis, lets take a brief look at how God is dealing with the Serpent.
Genesis 3:14-15 (KJV) And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: [15] And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
The phrase “you will bruise his heel” refers to Satan’s repeated attempts to defeat Christ during his life on earth. “He will bruise your head” foreshadows Satan’s defeat when Christ rose from the dead. And that one day he will ultimately be cast into the lake of fire along with death and hell and with all his evil spirits.
Throughout the scriptures we find illustrious examples of God‘s covering man’s sin. These true life experiences are proof beyond any shadow of doubt that our God has made a way for man to return to God so that He might have fellowship with us.
It is by the mutual agreement of all Christians today that the great subject of the bible from Genesis 3:15 to Revelations is Jesus Christ, the son of God.
While this truth is very evident in the New Testament, it is equally present in the Old Testament though not as obvious. As one does a greater in depth study of the Old Testament, an even richer portrait of the Messiah is revealed.
The Hebrew word Mashiyach (translated messiah) means “the anointed one” and it’s Greek counterpart is Christos (translated Christ). He is foretold or foreshadowed throughout the scriptures. Truly God has spoken loudly of the coming Messiah throughout the pages of this incredible Word of God.
It was God’s doings that clothed man to the very utmost, God by way of Jesus Christ clothed you and I when we accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Throughout the scriptures his prophetic life or presence is the lifeblood that sustained the world until the time when Jesus would actually be born into the world and physically manifest the heart of God.
