My kids went away to camp with their school for three days, so the house has been very quiet and they’re finally back.  They’re so proud of me.  They are so excited about me doing the show.  I got to watch their little piece they did on “Entertainment Tonight” where they were reporters and they were so cute.  I just love the fact that I have this amazing support from my family. 

Last Wednesday my daughter Katie had a reception for a film she helped produce called “Beach Party At The Threshold of Hell”.  It opens in select theatres on the 19th.  Look out for it.  It’s being put out by National Lampoon and it’s very exciting.  It’s a black comedy all about post apocalyptic America and I’m in it at the beginning. I play the last president of the United Stares before the apocalypse.  My daughter is also acting in it, Katie Flynn and Kevin Wheatley wrote, directed and starred in it and if you go on the website, you’ll be able to see all about it.  It’s a terrific movie and what’s really great about it is it’s been made by, what was then, a bunch of kids who just graduated from college. 

Katie had just graduated from Columbia and they all got together and made this for very little money, almost nothing.  They finished it, edited it added some bits and pieces to it.  Now it’s this great movie and it’s actually getting a wide release.  I just think it’s fantastic that an independent movie like that, that audiences across the country and film festivals have seen and loved has now been released and will be seen by hopefully millions of people.  It’s also going to come out on DVD so if you miss it in the theatres, you can see it there. 

But, it’s really cool, I think for me, to be in something that’s a real independent movie and I was so excited that my daughter is working with these unbelievably talented young people.  I keep telling her how wonderful it is to work both sides of the camera, to be a producer and to be an actress.  She’s doing a lot of that now.  I really encourage that, especially with her knowledge of English, her knowledge of material.  She’s really in a perfect position to do both things.  She can really work on scripts, she’s really good at teaching acting as well as acting.  I’m very proud of her. 

She looked absolutely beautiful and the two of us were there on this mini red carpet.  But, of course, all the work was really done by a bunch of young people, all of whom are starring in and working on Beach Party and I’m just excited to be included as one of them.  It makes me feel really young to be able to hang out and be part of this group of twenty six year olds and know we’re all in this together.
