It's finally come to this. I feel the need to vent publicly over something I've been finding harder and harder to stomach. FEMA [Federal Emergency Management Agency], the organization that brought you death in New Orleans when the floods came, has once again kicked the American public square in the teeth. Before we go on I want to say I am from Massachusetts and can only imagine that if my outrage is at this level, those in the effected regions must be insurmountable. So, a little recap, shall we?

1. When Katrina hit New Orleans and caused the untold amount of damage, FEMA waited far far too long to send aid to the region. In the meantime the elderly and infirm died slow deaths, men and women went without food or drinking water, and the anger and frustration in the region mounted to such a level that, had they had the strength, the people would probably have attacked the FEMA workers when they finally arrived.

2. Recently, FEMA held a press conference [I believe it was regarding the fires in California] wherein no real press was involved. The agency actually had their employees DRESS as reporters and fill a FAKE press room for a FAKE press conference and as FAKE softball questions so the agency would come out the other side looking just as shiny and perfect as ever. The undisputed GALL of such an act by public servants should be actionable. How dare they! And again, this is after they've "apologized" up and down over the Katrina "incident".

3. NOW. Today on the news it was reported that FEMA has issued a warning that none of their employees are to enter the 70,000+ trailers distributed around the country as they contain high levels of formaldehyde, a toxic chemical. This has led to public outcry in places such as.... NEW ORLEANS where thousands upon thousands of people have been living in these FEMA sponsored trailers. FEMA stated that those trailers had no problem but it was just trailers that had been sealed for awhile.

But guess what? The good people of New Orleans have been complaining of certain symptoms since their trailers were delivered. Symptoms such as headaches, nausea, bloody noses, etc. EACH AND EVERY ONE a symptom of Formaldehyde exposure.

This needs to stop. This needs to be ended right here and now and if the president wasn't such a broken puppet he might actually be able to do something. All I know is, FEMA needs to be repaired, or more importantly, replaced with someone or something that will actually protect the American people when they need it, not cause more emergency situations for the vulnerable citizens of this country.
