"It doesn't get any better than this". That's what I was thinking yesterday afternoon. Of course, that was after I'd finished washing the breakfast and lunch dishes. Funny how the day is improved when those aren't looking back at you from the sink. Just relaxing. Earlier I'd spent some time on a "painting in progress", and it was coming along. Now it was "kick back" time. Put some music on the player and see if there might be anything in the Sunday paper ads that I can't get along without - fortunately there wasn't. My taste in music is pretty wide ranging. Some days it's opera, some days it's country, or early pop. I'm a total romantic sentimentalist and I can spend hours listening to the "Great American Songbook". Especially the old "torch songs" of the thirties and forties when done by an orchestra and vocalist who really try to do the song the way it was written. I tend to favor the early years of singers like Ella, Frank, Sarah, Judy, - before they felt that the song might be improved with some "embellishment". So with Sarah Vaughan doing her best, I was "good" Some things improve with age, some don't. Everyone knows what to expect when they see a "new and improved" label on a product, just different packaging and less quantity, but how about us. I like to hope that I'm an improved version of my younger self, not "Newer" by any means, but improved. So maybe we need a small advisement label that we can stand back and look at from time to time. "Area in transition, thank you for your patience and understanding" Spiritwest
