One of our corporate partners, Verizon Wireless, gave me their new Coupe phone to use for a few months... to give them feedback about it from a boomer's perspective.
(Now, I want you to know... I am not a spokesperson for Verizon Wireless; they wanted my feedback on their product, not an endorsement. But I can't help myself.)
From the moment I saw it's sleek, black shell with the big window on the front, I've loved it! I was excited to discover that it has big I C E (In Case of Emergency) buttons right under the display!
Have you ever heard of "I C E"? I got this information in a "pass it forward email" from a friend:
We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know whom to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency?
The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. All you need to do is store the number of the person or persons you want to be contacted in an emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency).
The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but the first responders didn't know which number to call. He started the ICE Campaign in England which has spread across Europe for ICE as an internationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE".
Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest .
For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.
A great idea that will make a difference!
I thought this was so important, I wanted to blog about it. Verizon Wireless has taken it a step further. On my Coupe phone, in there are 3 separate, red ICE buttons, a 911 button, and a pre-entered contact list (Brother, Club, Dad, Daughter, Grandkids, Home, Mom, Neighbor, Sister) -- all I had to do was add their phone numbers!
I also love the size of the numbers on the display screen (about 5/8" high!), so they're really easy to read; and you can use voice commands to enter or retrieve numbers (no buttons to push!). Okay, that's enough. I just had to share this with you.
Put your ICE numbers in your phone today. It could save your life. Forward this blog to your friends and family, and make sure they ICE their phones. It's another way to tell them you love them.

I've been using my Coupe phone for about 6 weeks now and really LOVE it. I certainly haven't found the buttons too small, but, regardless it has voice commands! So you don't even need to use the buttons. I do know that the ICE and 911 buttons are set apart and extremely easy to find/use. I've had four different cell phones and the Coupe is by far my favorite. Just want to give you my perspective, having used the phone for a while.

Wonderful idea. I never ever give that a thought. Every phone sold should have this feature. It would save so many lives and much time.

When i put in my contacts, I put a # in front of it so it would be at the top alphabetically when the list is opened
