My Bedroom Light was on that night!!! Is your's??

A few Years ago I belonged to a Chat group on AOL & actually, I was one of the chat Leaders for that Group. The Chat group had just ended. A friend of mine & I were assessing the Group's chat after the Group and all of a sudden another Group Member interrupted our conversation when suddenly I noticed the IM chat Screen was appearing very very strange. I immediately informed my Friend to let me go to attend to this Member we had been discussing her odd behavior she had noticed while the Group chat was going on.

As I was assessing the situation, my IM chat screen apppeared to have garbled with short IM messages on my screen which was very weird to me. In essence I had to scroll way down to make sense of this Member's IM distorted messed-up messages.

All of a sudden this Female Group Member admitted to me that she had admitted taking an Overdose of Zanex.....OMG...I thought!!! What the Hell do I do now?...My other Female Friend had already gone offline and could not ask her for Help....soooooo...in my haste quick-Social Work thinking, I decided to ask her if she was alone; she informed me that her BF was fast asleep in bed. OMG...what now do I do????
Gee...I thought...I only knew her first name and had no clue where she even lived....

Soooo...I decided to ask her, then she got suspicious...(Now, mind you, I was fully aware she might OD & die on me any minute!!!....)

Sooo...I had recalled an alleged previous conversation I had had with her half joking I would come visit her....I had done this with another member prior to this & actually did visit her out in MO.
So I reminded her of this and informed her that in order for me to do this I needed her full name and address...& of course, her Phone number..when all of sudden....she gave me all the INFO lickity-split on the IM screen! I could not believe my eyes!!! Now mind you, I was in RI and this Darling gal lived in Kentucky!!! OH shit, I thought! Who would ever believe my story!!!

Soooo...I told her not to go to bed and wait for a call...Now I did not have a Cell Phone either, so I had to log offline and call the Kentucky State Police and report the 911 Incident. So I immediately called the Operator & told her I needed the Kentucky State Police right away. She could not connect me directly & proceeded to give me the number. OMG, I thought..the Clock's tickin here!

I did call the kentucky State Police Dispatcher he began to question the validity of my Info....Grrrr....how could I convince him of the Truth....Sooooo.... in my Social Worker confidence, I suggested that if he did not act on my Info right away, inclusive of my description of the Symptoms I observed online,...they were about to lose a Citizen of their community & would he want thje responsiblity of that!!! Damn, was I good!!! So he immediately dispatched the Metro 911 EMT's to my friend's address and I asked him to call me back with confirmation....Now, it was already 3:30AM....Good grief...so I got off the phone and layed in my bed waiting for the Return call...Well, it never came!!!
:(...Yikes, I thought as 8:30AM rolled around after falling asleep, was my Friend Dead, I pondered? Or was it all a foolish Hoax? I thought NOT!!!

So I decided to call the Kentucky State Police, and I'll always remember that Public Relations Officer, Major Joe West...He had just returned from vacation so he hadnt a Clue what had gone on that AM. So he told me he would check into this and call me back in a half hour, which he did not..... Now I'm imagining that he must think I'm off my proverbial Rocker! LOL! Well, he apologized to me and reported that the Metro Computers were offline and he had NO ACCESS to that info at that time!
Sooo...again he said he would call me back again...OMG....what was I to think!!! so in about 30 mins he did call me and conincidently, THANKED ME FOR BEING IN THE "RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME" because Mary, I will call her, he had confirmed was 911'ed to the local ER in Louisville where she was given Charcoal to pump her Stomach out and her Life was saved at that moment....Thank GOD!!! Major Joe West actually thanked me again, because having coming back from VACA, they were extremely busy getting ready for the Kentucky Derby! That was their TOP PRIORITY!!!! And here I was calling from little Rhode Island & interrupting that whole process at 3:30 AM that morning!!!! All was not lost and a LIFE HAD BEEN SAVED!!!

Now I dont say this to brag about it, but you never know when a 911 Emergency may be right before your very eyes, ONLINE, WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT!!!

I too, later connected with "Mary" after she got out of the Hospital and thanked me for saving her Life and now, I had become her "Guardian Angel".
I humbly just told her I was doing my Job as any Good Social Worker would do, despite her Drunken lack of cooperation, LOL!!...That form of questioning her as I did....Well, it was a complete LIE!!! We had never even discussed my ever visiting her!!! That was the VERY FIRST CONCIOUS LIE I HAD EVER MADE UP IN MY LIFE!!!! WHAT A
CON JOB THAT WAS!!! BUT, YOU KNOW WHAT>>>>
..>>>IT WORKED, didnt it!!! LOL!! That was the best justified LIE IN MY LIFE!!!
AND, ....IT HAD, IN REALITY, BECOME A MATTER OF LIFE & DEATH!!!! My friend, Mary had agreed to go to Narcotics Anonbymous meetings after that.....

I had subsequent contact with her about a year later and she informned me that she had plans to get married!!!....another LIFE STORY IN PROCESS!
THANK GOD FOR MY SOCIAL WORK GUT INSTINCTS!!!!

Soooo just when you think someone's chat behavior is rather strange....don't abaondon them!
THE LIFE YOU COULD SAVE MAY BE THEIR'S!!!!!
