One week to go! This past month of training has positively flown by. I can’t believe that I now actually can dance the Foxtrot. It’s a lovely elegant dance and I feel as light as air when Tony and I dance the steps.
I can feel the excitement building and I’m getting caught up in it and enjoying every minute of it. Tony and I are taking this one week at a time and we’re going to be perfecting each dance and I’m going to dance my own personal best each week. I feel quite good about our Foxtrot and we’ve even starting working on our second dance. So here’s to hoping we make it through to week 2 so that I get the chance to move my British hips to the Mambo.
As for my back, it has been holding up extremely well and in fact I feel more mobile than ever. Who knew ballroom dancing could be such great physio-therapy!
I’m hoping that my sisters will be able to come from England to watch and I know that my family will be in my own little cheering section each and every week that I’m on the show. I think I might just be able to convince Joe Lando to come and watch me dance even though he’s the first to admit that he has two left feet! We’ve spoken and he’s very excited for me and this new challenge in my life.
I suppose this reaffirms that every day is the perfect day to start something new. I’m really looking forward to sharing my dance with you on Monday and remember to vote!! Tony and I need your support.

Your post was quite inspirational and so important, because people in our age demographic often hesitate to try something new. It appears that you have not only agreed to try it, but that you have thrown yourself into the endeavor, heart and soul! And look! See how happy you are and how many others you have inspired?! Good for you! Wish I could be there to watch in person but I, too, have thrown myself into a new art-making endeavor that is consuming my whole life...and making me happy as well. It is a chain reaction, I tell you! Brava! <---for us all !

P. S. I had back surgery 6 months ago and I would imagine that all of the core strengthening that you would do for dancing WOULD help your back! Here's to a pain free season of dancing!

I was a USO Junior Hostess during the Vietnam War while going to school. We would go to the nearby USA base and go to dances. They were well chaperoned and I had more fun.
I have not danced in years and maybe ballroom dancing will come back.
You go girl!

My family and I will be in your cheering section :) You are quite an inspiration to all of us. At our age, we do not often have the confidence to try something new, especially if it is a full time physical activity, such as this. You have been a personal favorite of ours for many years and this show is turning out to be extremely successful. Step out there Jayne and give them your stuff ! We are looking forward to seeing you dazzle and shine.

The first time I saw Jane Seymour was in a movie from the 80s called East of Eden. I thought she was fabulous! Then I watched Somewhere In Time with Jane and Christoper Reeves and Christopher Plummer. Those 3 were quite a wonderful and talented trio! They still are. Sadly, Mr. Reeves is gone, but is remembered. I don't have T-V anymore but I still like to watch Janes movies. Well done!!

I don't normally watch this show because it's not really my cup of tea, but since finding out the great Jane Seymour is going to be a participant, I may have to rethink this. I just wish I looked as good as she does.

I would just love to get in to watch the show. I started Ballroom three years ago and after I told my husband if he did not learn, he would have to watch me dance with all of the men who did, he started. We have danced since then and I love the Foxtrot also. But I love them all, dancing has been a part of my life since American Bandstand. Most of all, I love the Swing and Jive to Old Time Rock and Roll. The Jive is a killer. Good luck from Mission Viejo and if there are ways to get tickets let me know. We almost did with our dance studio but after driving into LA there was a mistake in the number allowed in. Alas, we saw the judges walk by. Good luck! Beth Carmichael of Mission Viejo.
