25 Things I Know for Sure

On the occasion of my birthday with a zero in it, this is what I know for sure:

1. Dark chocolate beats granola.
2. Having a dog is better than not having a dog.
3. There's no such thing as retirement.
4. Marriage is life’s hardest job.
5. Helping a child learn to read is life’s best job.
6. Never be without a little “mad money.”
7. Friends are the family we choose for ourselves.
8. Money helps.
9. Driving a Ferrari is more fun than driving a Ford.
10. When the cat knocks the Thanksgiving turkey on the floor, laugh.
11. Never skimp on presents for others.
12. Never skimp on presents for yourself.
13. Seize any excuse to celebrate anything.
14. Long baths are better than quick showers.
15. Love is always worth it.
16. Whales really do sing.
17. McDonald’s fries won’t kill me.
18. Nobody needs more than three pairs of shoes, provided one is red.
19. My bathroom scale only goes up.
20. Short naps are good; long ones are better.
21. Gardening feeds the soul.
22. Daydreaming is never a waste of time.
23. Dying gray hair is overrated.
24. There are no wrinkles, only laugh lines.
25. Mirrors lie; my heart says I am 25.
