Let me start by saying I try not to hate or spread hate> But when it comes to computer hackers and those who are out there creating and speading computer viruses and spyware; basically extremely intelligent assholes with nothing better to do than set out to prove (to themselves) that they are smart by trashing peoples' personal property, I feel the urge to hunt them down and hang them with their USB cables. This rant is brought on by the fact that I am sitting here at my laptop which is barely able to operate the monitor and run youtube at the same time and I am sitting at this old (but trusty) laptop because my good pc is in the shop getting a complete reload. Yes I took it in for an overheating problem (dust) but when they tried restoring the damaged files they found spyware really nasty spyware(yes I have protection for my pc; I use more protection than a married man soliciting a crack whore in an alley, but this as the tech said was a particularly nasty one. The best option was to do a total reinstall from scratch which means everything is wiped out. Yes the uncompromised files could be saved and reinstalled if there were any. As per the conversation "we really feel it best to do a reinstall especially since you don't have much on there to lose." I am a bit miffed about having to try to find all my bookmarks again; I'm pissed that game saves that took over a year to create are gone. It wasn't untill after I hung up that I thought about my document files; years of writing I did, game ideas, stories, poems, thoughts and quotes. I imediately called back and asked if they could back up my doc files to a disk or something; their reply "what documents"?
"Uh my doc files"
"We don't see any; where did you keep them"
"uh My documents"?
"yeah that's a good place, didn't see any; we'll look again and save anything we can find"
So it looks like about 3-4 years of my life on the page is gone. I never planned on selling anything; I write for myself, my peace of mind, if I release it for others to view I only hope they get as much enjoyment reading it as I got writing it. So I should know the verdict tomorrow; is it gone or do I get parts of my life back.
As for the hackers; I hope they all rot in the nine hells.
