I have several bulky files on and around my desk which contain random notes I make day and night whenever I see, hear or dream about anything which I consider of interest.
They also contain scraps of paper upon which are writings by others given to me for one reason or another. Whenever I get a spare moment and I am not too lazy, I transcribe these "jottings" onto Microsoft Word.
I was looking thru a file last night and found this letter written by one of my nieces when she was about four or five years old. Its on a single sheet of white paper folded into four and on the outside she had written:
"Dear: Thooth Feriey." She has drawn a picture of a wand on the one side and a smiling girl's face on the other.
Inside she has written: "Dear thooth Ferey can I get R10 Rand For each thooth please. I have three theeth sow iF you give R10 For each. I will have R30 for all my theeth."
She drew three large molars with 10 written in the first, 20 in the second and 30 in the third. Then in big letters she has written: "PLEASE GIVE ME R30" with the 3 back to front and a picture of a "thooth ferey" with wings, a crown and in one hand a wand and in the other a bag with three teeth in it!
Oh why do we have to grow up? Sigh!!

Did she get the 30Rand? Not knowing the rate of exchange beween Rand and Dollars- she might have gotten some serious change!. I know the rates do increase between the generations. I got a dime, my kids a quarter, and my grandchildren a dollar! That could be a very lucrative experience!
I don't know why we have to grow up- maybe so we can take our turn at being the Tooth Fairy.

Sad stuff isn't it when governments get in the way of culture and people.
My favorite Cat is "Morning Has Broken" which I think is a remake of something from the English middle ages.
