Cautiously, I glanced ere I laid down beside her
She seemed to shrink as if drawn into her book
For I knew I was wrong, the feeling so strong
When your pride’s a stubborn hook

Regretting my actions I reached to stroke her
But her flesh crawled in response to my touch
I withdrew my hand and rose to stand
For I knew I deserved as much

Why do you leave? She asked of me?
It would seem I’ve lost your trust,
When I touched you then… I felt it.
You shuddered with disgust

Foolish heart! I did not shudder
I was quivering with desire
Please come to me…forget your pride!
…and quench this burning fire

Oft times our guilt’s belie the truth
And mold our private hell
Just remember…trust to your heart
It will always serve you well…
