HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Cam on his TWELFTH birthday! We know he had a good time, especially since he received a surprise gift of tickets to a Star Trek or Star Wars concert for him and his family. Hope you have a wonderful twelfth year, Cam. We love you very much.
HALLOWEEN NEWS: Cam's Halloween costume was designed by his Dad; he wore a Lego Man outfit with a big yellow head/face. What a cute idea!
Brynn decided she wanted to scare a few folks on her Halloween outing, so she dressed as a zombie, again with something designed by her Dad. She really looked scary, too, with the paint on her face and the "blood" on her clothes.
I'm sure they had a good time running around dressed like that, although I don't know for sure if they did trick-or-treating or not. When their Dad was a little boy, I usually stayed home alone and prepared our traditional hot dogs/chili meal while their Dad took them around our neighborhood to do the trick-or-treating part of Halloween. Almost without fail, they would come to our back door to yell TRICK OR TREAT at our house to try to scare me. Depending on how old they were, of course, I was either VERY SCARED or would just laugh with them. No matter, they had a good time every year.
Channie is wearing her stabilizer after her visit to the ER. She has been in pain a good bit. Thankfully, Tylenol usually eases that, and I'm sure it'll get better as time passes. It's pretty hard for both Channie and her Mom to get a good night's sleep right now, but that, too, will get better in a few days, I'm sure.
Right now, Jess is waiting to hear from Children's Hospital in NO to get an appointment with a pediatric orthopedist. Hopefully, they will be able to see her pretty soon, before the fracture starts to heal so they can have some baseline for future reference.
I spent the better part of the morning just taking care of computer business; the other part was used to prepare supper for tonight. I'm cooking a round steak with gravy, and Randi suggested that I cook some garlic mashed potatoes as a side. Of course, I'll have rice, too, so the starches will be out in full strength tonight. I'll probably prepare a nice lettuce/tomato salad to go along with all of that, so we'll have a meal of varieties.
Mom's bloodwork was received and checked by the doctor; I received a call today saying that they would have to increase her thyroid medication a little. That's no big deal; she's used to taking it every day, so it's just that she'll be taking a different dosage. They were to call her pharmacy, and that will be delivered to her either this afternoon or tomorrow. Of course, she'll need a follow-up blood check in 3-4 months; since I have to do the same thing, I'll try to remember to make BOTH of our appointments on the same day. I'm sure the lab folks will just love that--both Mom and I are "hard sticks" and give them trouble finding a vein every time we go. Oh, well--c'est la vie.
I saved special birthday wishes for Carly for last. Carly is celebrating her THIRTEENTH birthday today. Reaching those teen years is always considered a milestone, so it is very special. We hope your day is super special, Carly, and that it leads you into a year of lots of special days. I hope you are able to celebrate in a fun-filled way. Take pictures and send them to me. OK?
Have a terrific day! We love you! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Well, folks, that's it for today. Hope you have a good evening and wonderful rest-of-the-week.
QUOTE: "Young people are in a condition like permanent intoxication, because youth is sweet and they are growing." --Aristotle
NOTE: Ahhhh--to be as young in body as we are in spirit, huh? It's too bad that the wonder of youth and the bodies of youth cannot follow us into old age. There are so many things I would love to do as an "older citizen" that I can't do because my body won't cooperate; however, there is so much more appreciation in my life today than there was when I was younger. Age truly does bring wisdom and an appreciation for all things possible. I FEEL young on the inside, even though I ache in every joint of my body. I KNOW I have been blessed for all these years--my husband and family, my parents and siblings, my relatives, my friends, my peers, my careers, my faith. As a "senior", these things are dear to me; and one day, Carly, and her cousins and peers will recognize the things that they thought were unimportant really did play a big part in the person they have become. Continue to be amazed at life--no matter your age! Life is wonderful and is to be enjoyed and appreciated.
