I love the fall but...harsh weather soon follows.
Get your vehicle in shape for the cold weather. If you can't or don't want to do it yourself and have no family members that will do it for you, take it to a shop. Here's what you can do to save time and $$$.
Change your oil and have all fluids checked. (especially the antifreeze in northern climates)
Top off your washer fluid too as road grime will blind you in the rain & slush.
Check those wiper blades while you're at it.
Give the tires a good look, no "baldies! Check the air pressure too. (see owners manual)
When did you last change your battery? Colder weather makes it work harder and it could fail. (when and where you least expect it)
Check head and tail lights as well as signals.
Put a little oil or grease on your key and insert it in the door and trunk lock several times. (this prevents moisture from freezing there and locking you out) (don't use WD-40) Cooking oil will do if nothing else.
You should keep a blanket, flashlight and first aid kit in you vehicle all year round but it's a very good idea when you may be stranded in cold weather.
I have probably forgot some things- but there are many web sites you can view to make sure you are ready.
Remember- emergencies are not "planned" events.
