In most towns across the country, Friday night in the fall is football. Maybe there's a dance after for the high school kids. But it is one of those rituals of small town life.
Things are different this year. Even in this big burg, we are paying attention to the health issues.
This morning one Friday game after another is being canceled- due to flu concerns. Some teams are missing more than half of the players. There is concerned that playing sick kids will lead to injuries or to the spread of the flu.
Teams and coaches are concerned by "forfeitures due to health" The flu lasts for weeks and rescheduling games is not going to be easy.
Not sure how this one is going to work out or the ripple effects. But this Friday night is going to be different. And maybe this one lost Friday night will mean a kid doesn't get a scholarship? Maybe some high school crush won't develop?
The butterfly effect changed by some nano sized form of barely life- a flu virus.
We are all connected - even if by wee barely visible forms of life.

Hopefully the schedule change won't affect someone's scholarship. The crush could develop anytime :) Cupid in a face mask and shooting Purel-tipped arrows :)

Gardenlady is right about the crush: it will happen anyway...

My hope is that this renewed interest in good hand washing and awareness of how germs are spread will continue. As for the game schedules, hopefully the health of the players , and by default the fans, is viewed as more important. As for those crushes? They have a way of surmounting all manner of obstacles!
