Maybe its because I am slightly younger than the average member here, something I know pisses off many of the older people cos that want to just have Boomers here. But there seems to be, in my humble opinion, a decided lack of controversial blogs posted here.
We get stuff like recipes, religious messages, birds I saw in my garden, I so love Fall etc etc ad nauseum. Its like we living in a retirement village here. Not that I have anything against retirement villages, they great for old folk. BUT jeeze guys, don't we want to post some blogs that are gonna get people talking and thinking and debating and stretching their imagination or is that going to keep the old folk from their afternoon nap?
I would so love to see a blog or two that makes me think instead of yawn. Yeah right I know I'm gonna get members saying: "Hey if you don't like whats going down here then leave!"
But why should I? I have as much right to be here as the next person and at least I'm living and not just alive!

In just the past week there have been blogs on globalization, China, gambling, long term caregiving, incredible feats of courage by young people, folk who seem to crave their 'fifteen minutes of fame' to be extended, 'dumbing down' of America and so much more. Most sparked some lively debates and were very thought provoking. Just have to sort and sift I think.

The press got slammed
Religion was promoted and disc'ed.
There was a litle sex/Nudism. Where are the young female nudists? Got an answer JonesJones?
There were blogs on disappointment and love - I rather the love myself
Lots of travel stuff- China, Cripple Creek, Michigan, other places- country, city variations
Tales of War- purple hearts
Flogging of books of music and books by members- bravo members
Someone blogged on "Selling A Soul" I wasn't in the market and didn't read.
A least one blog dealt with food and global trade-(I wrote that one- imagine the Vikings of Iceland coming in longboats to Europe again for their Whopper. I was impressed by my own cleverness of course.) Perhaps, we can send them on to South Africa to give you some thrills.
More than a little economics
Lots of Affirmations- when the chin sags, something uplifting besides surgery is a good thing.
Stuff on critters - so heartwarming- right down to butterflies.
Scam warnings
Wayward pilots - love that one myself-
And of course Who is Ramin Baratiam? I still don't know.
But doesn't that cover the entire span of human endeavor- love, fame, politics, sex, sports, religion, fortune, health, ego?
What are we missing? Maybe it should be more in your face?
Maybe most of us lost our edge at some park in San Francisco or at the Chicago Democratic Convention or in DC in 1969 or in the rice paddies of name or in the loss of a job. Maybe we just mellowed out. Maybe JonesJones we are ready for the rocking chair on the front porch and looking at sunsets. You're invite to join in- bring the beer. It'll be a wild time.

As one of those whose writing makes you yawn, I am not likely to change my tune. I write what I feel, in the form of my choice, and put it out there for anyone who wants to read it. You know what I write and you can choose to skip my blogs.
What you can't do, Jj, is generalize about "old people" or "young folks". You aren't old enough yet to have the perspective that we have, and maybe we are too old to have your enthusiasm....but in any case, we all have a right to be here and to write what we want.
If you are hellbent to find controversial, thought-provoking, conversation-sparking fire and brimstone, why don't YOU write it?

So why have any or all of that on Eons or any Social Network Site? Ah, well we do. What is on Eons represents those that write to post and comment on what they, those that do it, want to write or post about. And most is not controversial in most ways. And yes, some is very personal and could serve to edited more closely, or on second thought not done at all. But the point is Eons is entirely the creation of whoever participates in writing and posting stuff, whatever that is, subject to the TOU(Terms of Use) that Eons Tower wishes to impose on the members and what is posted.
And as of the a few months ago, blogging has been relegated to a secondary application of Eons as compared to groups. And hopeful, this is only a recognition of blogging on Eons as having an unfortunate problem of virulent attacks of spam, and not because of a decision to demote the idea of blogging on Eons that actually has had as good and varied experience as any on the Web.
So, as they say, jump into the pool, sink or swim, some of us are watching.

1) Been there and done that TestoF8th, but political groups tend to be very dull and I am very easily bored.
2) I will Sher honey I promise! Mwaaaaaah!
3) Cap’n John sir! Of course I know where the young female nudists are! They all being chased by the young male nudists. The more mature female nudists know the guys will get tired of the chase and be back later.
Someone wanted to sell a soul? OMG! How much?
Nope you keep your Vikings! They not getting my Whopper! (WTF is a Whopper Cap’n sir?)
Butterflies! WooHoo! Now that’s gonna get my thrill on!
Yes more in my face I would enjoy Cap’n John and no, not because I want to be clever or belittle any fellow earthling here on Eons on anywhere else. That is not my style, but simply because I am a writer and I love writing … its food and drink to my brain.
As far as San Francisco is concerned, if you’re referring to “The Summer of Love” Cap’n, why that must have been the most magical of times and I would give anything to have been there! As for Nam, my record here on Eons speaks for itself. I have the greatest respect for every American who did a tour of duty there. In fact I have a great respect and love for America and Americans which is one of the reasons why I joined Eons in the first place.
I hear you about the rocking chair Cap’n John sir cos I feel that way myself quite often nowadays!
4) Ah Blondie! Sigh … It has been toooooooooo long since I heard from you! You are perfectly correct because you have THE RIGHT TO WRITE about any subject you choose. And whilst I don’t agree that you, my favourite blonde on Eons are old, I do agree that we all have a right to be here and to write what we want. No I wouldn’t say I was “hellbent on seeking out controversial, thought-provoking, conversation-sparking fire and brimstone,” … well maybe just a little! Mwaaaaaaaaah!
5) Point taken Mr exedir. You have a great command of the English language … I envy you.
