The big 6-0 . . . oh my, can I really be that old? It seems like only yesterday that I was graduating from high school, then college, then grad school. At the what-seemed-like-ancient age of 23, I got married . . . and 20 years later I was divorced.

I worked for 25 years as an elementary school librarian. During that time, I also served as president of the Junior Woman’s Club, the Reading Council and the Beta Tau chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa.

This may be difficult to believe, but I was a real technophobe at one point . . . and I was really intimidated by the Internet. [Hush emom!] But then I discovered email, followed by surfing the Net, followed by the joys of shopping online! I became addicted to eBay (and a few other online auction sites), and then, to Eons! But as time passed, it became obvious to both of us that we were just too different . . . like oil and water, we just didn’t mix! I left the relationship with custody of HIS two cats! LOL Laverne and Shirley are real sweeties and have adjusted to their new home.

Over the years I have lost many people close to me. My dad died when I was 13, just a few months after we moved into our new house. My mom died 6 years ago at the age of 86. I still miss them both. I am who I am at the age of 60 because of who they were. Sometimes I catch myself saying something or doing something that they used to do, and I smile to myself. Or I will look in the mirror and see a combo of my mom and my grandmother looking back at me!
