President Bush has announced {Philidelphia Inq. Sunday July 15) that when CHIPS ends on Sept 30 he does not plan to reinstitute the insurance program for children. This means all the children who are not insured on their parents insurance will be without insurance for medical care.THese are kids that aren't in the welfare system, just uninsured. I don't have the nuimbers, but they will be in the millions. This means parents who do not have the money for wellness visits, vaccines and normal childhood illlnesses, not to mention the more serious problems like diabetes treatment and supplies, Cerebal Palsy,ADHD, Autism....I could go on forever. Some of the program even covers children if the parents are insured, but it doesn't cover ARC programs like CHIPS does.
IF CHIPS goes, our children will be left behind. IF children don't get Measles vaccinations and get Measles, will measle come back like when we ere kids? This program costs a fraction of what other programs cost, but Bush has managed to eliminate many of the programs or governing bodys for children like the Dept. of Education - anyone remember that? He talks out of both sides of his mouth, he professes to leave no child behind, but cuts the programs to support them.
Our Politicians in Wash have some of the best insurance benefits around, when is everyone going to have the same level they have enjoyed on our dollar?
Write to Pres. Bush, Your Senators and Representatives and anyone else that can make Bush change his mind. SEPT 30 CHIPS ends
Make sure Congress extends this program.
Each state operates separately here is the link for CHIPS/PA www.chipscoverskids.reachlocal.net

And, if you expect government to solve your problems, you will get just what you deserve.
My 2 penny opinion.

"but Bush has managed to eliminate many of the programs ". Bush did not do this single handedly, regardless of the statements made. YOUR elected Congressional leaders have more impact on these things than Bush, so who is really to blame? Of course, the democratic controlled Congress should not have to accept any blame or responsibility, should they? We, as taxpayers, have demanded that we lower the federal government spending, and reduce the debt. So, when they try to do this, we complain? Well, another route to take would be to raise taxes, but no one wants to see that, so I guess we have a problem.
Sorry, but we can not have it both ways. As of today, we rely too much on the government to solve our problems. I, for one, would much rather the government be less involved in my life, as most government "help" ends up being a money drain for very little result.
Just my opinion, and not necessarily that of the management or sponsors.

First of all, CHIPS is stalled in congress not dead.
Second, Bush has proposed an increase, but not a high enough increase to satisfy big spending democrats.
Third, no polititian is stupid enough to vote against this bill. If they are they won't be coming back for another term.
Calm down and get the facts right before accusing Bush of taking away their insurance.
