Western Square and Round Dance....How I loved it, and still do,,, and what great memories of my Dancing Days...memories I can fall back on nights I can't sleep....come to think of it ...I have always love dancing....even when I was very small and my Daddy would put me up on big table in dining room and ask me to dance....and the big Square Dances we had on Saturday nights at someone's home, especially when the young men in our community were going off to fight in war....all furniture were taken out of front room, men came in with their guitars, Banjos, and Fiddles...and what a celebration we would have and dance night away.......So no wonder when I was in my late fifties, became a widow for first time...and began to get lonely and wanted something to take away my loneliness ...I decided to take this Western Square and Round dance class they were offering at a Community College in a near by town. ...since I did not have a partner, one of the couples I went to church with offer to see that I had a partner.[so many of the dear ladies were so gracious to share their husband with me] ....the class lasted about six month....then I was invited to join the Square and Round Dance Assoc. there was 28 chapters in and around middle Tennessee... while visiting other chapters for their special dances..I met a wonderful man that needed a partner.....what great time we had together..we traveled to every convention we heard about all over the United States...after bieng partners for over a year we realized we wanted to spend the rest of our life together...and we decided to have a square dance wedding....invited all our square dance friends...who else could we share the happiest day of our life with?? We were soul mates, the love of my life...but little did I know we only had five years together before death stole him away...but I have five happy years of precious memories that I can fall back on,.....When I need your shoulder, your embrace, your smile, when I need to see your face for just a little while,I reach inside my soul to the precious memories it holds..........and there I owe my thanks to Square Dancing.
