We left Montana and drove through Idaho to Reno, Nevada. There we dropped our load and picked up another one to Sacramento, California. This blog’s picture is of a “pine-tenna”, an attempt to disguise antennas as trees. I think they are uglier than just leaving the antenna as is. From Sacramento we left for Redmond and Prineville, Oregon. We had a beautiful drive past Shasta and up the middle of Oregon.
Yesterday we got to Portland Oregon and Bob had to take a 36 hour break (required after a certain amount of hours driven). We tried to get a rental car to go to the coast, but none were available. So we decided to just hang out in Portland. We went to the grocery store and had the experience of security personnel trying to find a gentleman who apparently enjoyed displaying his wares to unsuspecting customers.
This morning we got up early and walked to a restaurant, the weather was pleasant and it was a very enjoyable walk. We stopped by the car rental agency – still no cars.
So we decided to take the bus to the mall in Clackamas. The driver was very nice and he and another gentlemen helped us get out at the right stop and told us how to use the bus system. Sometimes people are so nice when you really don’t expect it.
On the way back we had to wait a bit at the bus stop. We met up with a group of people getting off another bus. Apparently (sorry, probably not politically correct) they had just left a meeting for people with different and varying gender orientations. They all knew each other and some showed obvious signs of …umm “remodeling” given away by large adams apples and beautifully sculpted chests. Apparently these new chests needed to be exercised, there was more stretching and straining against t-shirts than at a pole-dancers convention and everybody loudly admired everybody elses new accoutrements.
Now we’re safely tucked away in our truck and I, for one, am really happy to be living in the middle of Kansas. Tomorrow the truck has to go into the shop and after that we hope to get a load into Canada.
