set in the time of england attempting to send their children to the countryside to save them from the raids.
the five boys were in the countryside near the waters that caused ships to wreck. this ship had a cargo of plum trees and of course, the towns peoples saved the trees and the crew but planted the plum trees and 5 took hold. also soon afterwards 5 women got pregnant and then 9 mo. later 5 boys were born within the same two weeks.

bobby from london is sent to the countryside by train and doesn't get fostered so this social worker takes him further into the countryside and to an old lady and dumps him there. so the boys gang up on him at first until the old lady goes to their homes and paddles all five of them from house to house with her shovel.

so then they learned to be six boys.

this is so charming and believable and he did so much research. each chapter tells a story in their adventures thru the villiagers and the boys in such time of stress. and yet he leaves you to assume the rest in each chapter according to how your mind will go further. ha.

hopefully we have all had mentors in our lives. coaches that we felt favored us and taught and taught and taught for no other reason than we asked. as i was a den mom. at first i fought for control and then i realized they were excited about what happened at school and wanted to tell their buddies and not their parents. parents were bored after awhile. grin. children insinctively realize that telling a parent is not as much fun. the parent wants to make it a teaching lesson... it already was. so i let them talk for 15 to 20 mins and enjoy and then began before they got all of the story out. it caused them to focus. i was a highly beloved den mom.

I've had so many mentors... kind of like obama. some i so loved what they taught but it was time to move on. some i stayed too long. and some i wish could have been around for a longer time. spirits are just not as conversational... ha.

i love this book... author. it was a mystry and thriller and i won't tell. great ratings.
