As I drove home today from a party I had attended, I noticed how green everything still is. Instead of the burnt out grass we normally have at the beginning of August, things are as lush as in the beginning of May. Because we have had so much rain. When I arrived home I stepped out of the car, stood for a minute looking out at the garden..in the rain...and began thinking how beautiful everything looked.

And the rain felt refreshing on my skin. Water - we are 55-78 percent water (depending on our body weight according to googled sources). In all of it's forms, as rain, in streams and lakes or the oceans water is so much a part of who we are.We drink water for health, we bathe or shower to be cleansed and refreshed. Water nourishes the plants that feed us. Water is used in hydrotherapy to heal and calm us. And the sound of gentle rain can lull you to sleep.

If I have to choose between a rainy summer like ours has been, or a dry summer which other people are having I will choose the rain every time. Even though it's much too much and can spoil hay or rot vegetables at least they have more of a chance if they have enough water. And although I do not waste water, I can shower without feeling guilty.

Rain, beautiful rain. You are welcome in my garden.
