As we grow older, the days and months seem to pass so quickly. It seems like we were just complaining about the snow and cold and here it is, 4th of July already. This is a quiet one for us. My son is living back at home since losing his job temporarily (we hope). He couldn't afford his apartment on unemployment so back home he came. We would always go to his apartment on July 4th to watch fireworks. He lived right next door to the park where they would shoot them off. It got to be a tradition, but another one ended.
Our weather is very cool for July, much different from the rest of the country who are suffering from 100's and lack of rain in many places. We haven't had either. In fact, we must mow about every 4 days just to keep up with the grass. Our temps are predicted to be in the upper 80's by the end of this week but I'll believe it when it happens.
We don't have any special plans for this summer . . . no big vacations planned. We should get up to my daughter's next month to cut her more wood for the winter. That is getting to be our new tradition for summer. She lives in the Keweenaw Peninsula in upper Michigan and wood is her main source of heat. Other than that, nothing in the works. I'd like to take a weekend trip up to Cheboygan and ride the rail trail again. We'll have to get that done before too long. We keep procrastinating and before long, Fall weather will be back with us and none of our summer plans will be realized.
