Skype

I once had a computer consultant who said he enjoyed coming to my house because he liked seeing what project I had gotten into next. Well, there's book publishing, magazine-article writing, poetry, art, photography, Kindle, and now Skype.

Next in importance to seeing friends and relatives while I talk with them over the Internet, I want to try the Oprah thing — gather groups of readers in the home of another Sykper and discuss my books. It would be like a book signing without the signing. Maybe I could do something about that — maybe labels that I could sign and mail, which could be added to the books' title pages.

If you have been thinking about Skyping, I recommend it. Go to www.skype.com to get the free software. You will need a camera (I believe that one with a built-in-microphone is best). Mine cost $76 plus shipping. The great thing is that Skype-to-Skype calls cost nothing, and you can talk for as long as you want. You can call anyone else who is also a Skyper.
It provides other services too, for a small fee.
