On the way home from Flagstaff visit after the Tah

Every year since 1994 we have traveled west to the Lake Tahoe region to visit our son/daughter-in-law. In 2001 we went to their wedding on top of Heavenly Mountain in Lake Tahoe. We just made the wedding by 12 hours due to all the delays because of 9/11. The wedding was on 9/16/2001. We made the wedding and on Monday turned around and came home. What was supposed to be a 5 day visit turned into a 2 day. But, we count our blessings that we made the wedding at all.

Previous years we went west either
by Miata or Motorcycle. Wife rides her own so we have some room to carry stuff.

On 11/27/2003 our grandson (Ty Joseph) was born, and Charlene has flown out at least once every year plus our annual drive.

In 2004 our visit terminated with us driving home in 48 hours. We waited till the last minute in hopes of catching the birth of our grand-daughter (Zoe Michelle). But Charlene had to be home to start teaching on Wednesday, Sept 1 and we stayed till Sunday August 29th at 4:30PM, and then had to leave to get home in time for her to resume teaching. (she has since retired, thank God). Zoe was born 12 hours after we left.(Murphy's Law?) Of couse we did not find this out till we got home Tuesday Night at 8PM.

This year we are flying. We had originally planned to drive again, but, the price of fuel, lodging, food, tolls and time made the airline way more economical.(gas $3+/gal). Plus the saving of the wear and tear on our bodies and the automobile. Flying is not fun anymore. Since 9/11 and the changes in flying "rules" the only "good" thing about it is the time saving. Now with the terriorist attempt in the UK to bomb airliners using bombs made on board with liquids it is getting harder to carry any convienent items on board. I guess we will just have to put up with it....
