You may wonder how the above beautiful photo of a red fox relates to "Are you lucky" Hopefully I can explain that in my ramblings below.
Red foxes live around the world in many diverse habitats including forests, grasslands, mountains, and deserts. They also adapt well to human environments such as farms, suburban areas, and even large communities. The red fox's resourcefulness has earned it a legendary reputation for intelligence and cunning.
An old saying around these neck of the woods is that you are lucky to see a red fox. In reality you are lucky to see any fox, they just don't want to be seen. I think the old saying has more to do with being able to see the beauty of the red fox.
Anyway that is the premise this post is based on. What I really want to talk about is luck.
I have had many people say that I am lucky and yes I feel lucky but I think the term luck is misused in so many cases. I recall stepping onto our hiking trail one morning just a mile north of here. I was into the trail only a few steps while wrestling with my camera gear, getting it ready. I looked up and right there in front of me was a beautiful red fox, staring at me. It was a such an eye pleasing creature! When I glanced down for just a second to prepare my camera and looked up the red fox was gone. Was I lucky, was I unlucky?
I saw that red fox because I had made a choice to exercise and to fulfill my desires to observe natural settings on the hiking trail, I created the situation for good luck. I was not able to get a photo because I chose to prepare the camera while on the trail and not before, hence I made that an unlucky event. In other words, I made my luck, good and bad, by my actions. A mobile person who sits at home and does not venture out will never experience the "luck" of seeing a red fox.
So bottom line, if you feel unlucky then take some risks, stir the pot, change up your routine, get out of the house, join a new group, post something that is close to your heart or respond to a good post. See what happens! Good luck!
