It’s official: I’m an Eons Addict! It started innocently enough. I worked on completing my profile, surfed to a few groups, then joined some groups, I added favorites, made a friend, posted some comments on other members’ profiles, collected some gift credits, gave a few gifts, received some gifts.
Then, I received my first Badge. Being a competitive soul, I wanted to receive more! I joined more groups, started to post messages and replies here and there. Received more Badges, more gift credits. Oh my! Where will it all end?!
The turning point? Well, it happened yesterday (July 4th) when I learned how easy it was to add graphics to messages! Before I had just been uploading the cartoons, etc. to the photos folders. But now, a whole new world of posting opened up to me! WOW!!! I went a little crazy – well, maybe a lot crazy! LOL How many messages and replies did I post? I have no idea – I lost count.
So, my question is this: is there a group for us Eons addicts? Should one be started? Are there others just as addicted? How about a 12-step program? I need help.
P.S.

Note to txmailmaam: I'm still thinking about the suggestions you gave me -- just haven't had any brainstorms. LOL In the meantime, I've come up with the following.
12 Step Program Of Recovery For EONS Addicts
1) I will have a cup of coffee in the morning and read my PAPER newspaper like I used to, before I discovered EONS.
2) I will eat breakfast with a knife and fork and not with one hand typing.
3) I will get dressed before noon.
4) I will make an attempt to clean the house, wash clothes, and plan dinner before even thinking of EONS.
5) I will sit down and write a letter to those unfortunate few friends and family that are EONS-deprived.
6) I will call someone on the phone who I cannot contact via EONS.
7) I will read a book... if I still remember how.
8) I will listen to those around me about their needs and stop telling them to turn the TV down so I can hear the music on EONS.
9) I will not be tempted during TV commercials to check for email.
10) I will try and get out of the house at least once a week, if it is necessary or not.
11) I will remember that my bank is not forgiving if I forget to balance my checkbook because I was too busy on EONS.
12) Last, but not least, I will remember that I must go to bed sometime... and EONS will always be there tomorrow!

Well, here I am – a little over 2 months later – still addicted! I have received FOUR BADGES and have started on 3 others. I am the MODERATOR for 4 groups, and a member of 11 additional groups. I have made more friends and received more gift credits than I can humanly “spend!” And I’m having a great time doing it!
My motto: use those brain cells before they become an endangered species! It’s fun to search Google for quirky things to post – it’s even more fun when other members enjoy what I’ve found. I guess we “old librarians” never retire, we just use the Internet instead of the card catalog. And besides, this is way more FUN than cleaning the house, dumping the trash, changing litter pans, cooking . . . you catch my drift, don’t you?!
Oh, I almost forgot . . . I had such WITHDRAWAL pangs while I was on vacation a month ago! A week without connecting to Eons was sheer agony. I couldn’t wait to get home and turn on my laptop and login!!!! There was so much to catch up on. And my online friends had missed me – what a warm fuzzy feeling that is – and I had missed them.
What’s next? Well, I’m a novice when it comes to online chatting, so I guess that will be my next project.

Another month has passed and I'm still a card-carrying Eons Addict! I've branched out into the world of chat and am loving every minute of it! I've made more friends, joined some more groups, left a few groups, learned some new things, been nominated for a few more badges . . . Life is great.
I was out of town on family business for about a week in mid-September. Before I made my reservations, I made sure that the hotel I stayed in had wireless internet in the rooms -- as well as, a refrigerator and microwave. One must have the essentials when traveling, don't you know. I took my new laptop and spent my evenings getting it set up and catching up with what was happening in Eons. Sometimes I was more interested in Eons than the television! And for a baby boomer who practically had to have the TV surgically removed -- that's shouting volumes!
So, all in all, my life as an Eons Addict has been filled with lots of wonderful experiences and even more new friends. And that's not a bad thing at all.

Another two months have passed, and I'm still an Eons Addict. One of my other blog entries, ARGH to the MAX!, was recently featured on the Eons Homepage. And just yesterday I was a Featured Member, dressed in my best Santa Suit, which thankfully had just been freshly cleaned and pressed! LOL Now, if I could only get those last few percentage points I need to get my Blogger Badge . . . hint, hint, hint . . . I'd be a very happy blogging camper.

I just realized it has been 4 months since I last updated this! Wow, how time flies here in the halls of Eons!! Let me just say that I DID RECEIVE my BLOGGER BADGE about 4 months ago. Hmmmm . . . that was about the time I posted my last entry to this blog. Interesting, eh?! LOL
Also, since the last update I have become the Manager of the Lighter Side of Oldies Music and I am having a ball doing that! Being the Manager is LOTS DIFFERENT than being a Mod!! That's why Eons pays us the big bucks, right? Oh, darn, you mean I'm doing this for free and fun and pure enjoyment and the opportunity to make new friends?!!!! Well, shucks, of course, I am!!! Aren't we all?
