I've just returned from satisfying a long time dream with lots of lessons learned. I volunteered at a state park (John Pennekamp in Key Largo) for two months. My little dog and I lived in my 19ft RV and it was a challenge.
The experience was worthwhile and my help was greatly appreciated, as I along with 12 others did our two-three month stint as campground hosts, gate toll collectors and office assistants. Our fabulous state and national parks could not exist without the millions of volunteer hours that are donated.
I explored the Keys with a new friend who lived and worked alongside of me. We snorkeled, swam, sailed, shopped and ate from Mile Marker 100 (our park) to MM 1(Key West). What great fun; consider doing it anywhere in this great country.
