When you look at the world around us, you know that God is an artist. He loves beauty, and I believe with all my heart that some of us are put here to continue His good work. Else, why are we so driven to create?

Art was not encouraged when I was growing up. It was considered a losing game, so I suppressed that urge to create things for over 50 years. I did what I was raised to do. I worked my way through school to get a degree in computer science in order to secure a job in a once lucrative field. I went to work everyday form 8 to 5. Earned those almighty dollars and spent most of it in an attempt to make myself happy. The rest I shoved into my 401k. The plan was to save enough to retire early and have a studio so that I could be artistic to my hearts content in my golden years.

Well...I lost the job due to business restructuring. Then the economy tanked. Bye, bye hard work. Bye, bye 401k. All those years of striving and hating every minute of it shot to hell.

The moral of this story is:

When all your best plans fail, just go with the gifts that God gave you. You will be much happier, and if you are destined to starve it's better to do it happily at home than it is to do battle every single day in order to feed corporate greed.
