Once or twice a year, every year, I get invaded. Ants. Maybe through the front door, or the back door, or through some other little hole.
But I get up, look down, and there they are. Those little black invaders. Normally enticed by the cat crunchies. Because my cats are slobs, and they drop them everywhere.
So, having found them last night, I moved right into extermination mode. No tiny little black thing is going to invade my house. I am ready to take them all out.
Step One: Take out the crunchies, and move the bowl. So I pulled out the mega-vacuum, and cleared the area. Antiseptic. Then washed it out. The ants scattered as I did this.
Step Two: The bait. I can't use ant traps, or anything that has any pesticide. The cats get into it. But I found a way, in an eco-friendly book. Instant Rice. The ants eat it up. They dutifully pull off a piece, and take it back to their home, to share. Just one problem, from their point of view. Once the rice mixes with any liquid, it expands. So, BOOM, once they eat it. A few days of rice, and my problem is solved.
Well, this time, anyway. It's so early in the season, I figure on one more infestation this year.
No problem. I have plenty of rice..................
