I know I shouldn't, but I get really pissed off when people refer to the UK or Great Britain as ENGLAND and don't give a shit that's it's incorrect. Europeans and Americans are guilty of doing so. When people say I live in England I always correct them - I live in Scotland, NOT England.

A teenage girl who sat next to me on a plane once asked where in America I lived. I replied that I didn't, I lived in Scotland. Her response was "Scotland? Scotland that's in England?" Argghhh...

A wee lesson for those who skipped geography/history classes:

Great Britain = Scotland, Wales, and England (and a couple of islands)

UK = Great Britain + Northern Ireland

English = one from England
Scottish (not Scotch!) = one from Scotland
Welsh = one from Wales
British = one from any of the above

England is just one country in the nation. Yes, that is where the prime minister (who is Scottish, not English) governs from. However, education and health in Scotland is separate from England/Wales. Scotland has its own parliament which is considering independence from the UK and Great Britain.
