10 Step Plan to Become an Amazon Best Seller
Here's my 10 Step Plan to Become an Amazon Best Seller. First, you must have a book listed with Amazon.com to use this plan.
1. Sign up for an Amazon writer’s blog for more exposure.
2. Create a list with their Listmania feature.
3. Start book discussions about your book.
4. Review books you've purchased and leave your comments with a rating for the books or products.
5. Add a "So you'd like to..." how-to article to their website.
6. Get the RSS feed address from your blog and import it into Amazon.
7. Build your Amazon profile.
8. Build your promotional email list by asking folks you know if you can email them with news about your book.
9. Get 10 people to send a request to their email lists to review your book on Amazon; it's free and only takes 10 minutes of their time. Once they review the book (5 minutes of reading, not the whole book), they can write a 2-3 paragraph review of your book and rate it in 5 minutes, and total time spent helping you will be only ten minutes!
10. Post your request to review your book on your networks, blog, website and personal email lists.
Give the campaign at least a week to get going then target one day to watch and respond to all the posts, reviews and discussions, while you watch your ratings rise.

If you'd like to be rewarded for your time, email Diane Tegarden at rosefirewalker@aol.com once you have written the review and rated my book "Getting OUT of Limbo- A Self Help Divorce Book for Women". When it is posted on Amazon I'll send you a free copy of my poetry ebook "Light Through Shuttered Window" for your reading enjoyment!
My birthday is March 15th and I'd like to see my star rising to the top of the Amazon.com Best Seller List by Monday March 16th.
Thank You!

I've already done steps 1-7 on Amazon but don't know much about 8-10. Care to elaborate?

yes I wrote "Getting OUT of Limbo- A Self Help Divorce Book for Women", and I'm asking my friends to review it. It is on Amazon.com, there are about 20 pages of it available to read and then leave a couple of paragraphs, or sentences, about the book and rate it. That's it! Once the review is posted, send me an email at rosefirewalker@aol.com and I'll send you my poetry ebook free for your enjoyment as a thank you gift.
I'm trying to improve the ratings of my book and this is one way to do it, or so I'm told.
We'll see eh?

8. Building an email list of people who are interested in getting news about your books through a service called Constant Contact is easier to manage than trying to ask people to get on your mailing list individually. One, because it has an anti-spam policy of the double opt- in which asks the person whom you are emailing whether they wish to get your email newsletter, and because once they are on the list you can send them an email which addresses them individually, personalizing it for them instead of it looking like a mass mail. They have attractive templates you can change each time you send an email, and the service is free up to the first 100 people on your email list. After that they begin to charge per month, but once you start to use it you can see the advantages of having this kind of service. They also provide you with tools on how to use their service, and have stock photos you can use to spiff up your newsletter.
9. Ask 10 friends to review your book, and also ask if they will send 10 of their friends the email asking for reviews of your book, etc. starting a cascading effect to widen the pool of people getting the email requesting more reviews. This simply widens your exposure.
10. Email at least 10 network leaders about your request for interviews, they often write newsletters, and they may need to fill in an empty spot with your request for reviews of your book.
I should add:
#11. Give a small token of your appreciation for the review, either offer to review a book of theirs or perhaps a freebie (like I'm doing by offering my poetry ebook, valued at $4.95!)
Hope this helps!
Diane T.

I know what you mean, America is still fixated as the male being the primary person of importance, if you'll notice, they insist on listing them first on mortgage docs, and on tax returns they are "the one" and we are always listed as "the other one" or "spouse". Even when my husband doesn't fill out one bit of a form, his name is listed first, although we have two different last names and mine comes first in the alphabet (also in number order), so the only obvious reason they always choose to list the male first is that he is considered the most important person in the relationship!
Bah Humbug...when will America grow up????
PS. Thanks for the write up, it will take about 48 hours for them to post it. I can't wait to see it!
