This is for anyone that can relate to one of the five characters in the movie. I remember high school and being one of the left out quiet flaky nerds! I had a few friends, but none of the so called beautiful people or cliques bothered with us. Later I became a police officer in my home town. I was working the door of local dance club, when 4 former female classmates, that never acknowledged my existance came up. They said hi and started making small talk. I asked the bouncer to allow them in without paying the five dollar cover. They were very happy and went in. I was about 33 years old then. Later I went upstairs to the bar area where they were sitting. All four did not look nearly as good as they did in high school, and 3 were quite heavy. All had been popular and or cheerleaders before. I asked the bartender to give them each a drink. They thanked me and then started a little small talk. After about 5 minutes I asked why they were talking to me now, when they never did in high school? One said, you were nerdy looking then, your kinda hot looking now! I smiled, and before I walked away I said, it's a good thing I'm not like you were then, or I wouldn't be talking to you, now! There were some guys that I knew at the bar and they started laughing!
As I walked away, I could hear her say, ass hole. I just laughed. Anyone have a similar story?

When we were teenagers you were either in or out.... I sat with this popular bunch at the lunch table, they were making fun of this new girl who just moved here. She was sitting at the table two rows down, alone.
After telling them that they shouldn't make fun of her, I got up and went and sat down with her.
Not only did she become my very best friend, but that day when I removed myself from that table, angel dust was passed and one of my classmates there OD'd.
I remember being called into the office and having the perfect alibi when the police questioned me. Wasn't me I left them to sit with someone else I can't tell you a thing that happened there that day.

In Jr High I moved to a bigger town and school. I guess I had blossomed a bit because I was immediately accepted into the popular group. I couldn't stand the meanness towards others and the hypocracy. They talked down the "freaks" for doing drugs,...while I babysat them every weekend to keep them from doing stupid and harmful things in the midst of their drinking binges. Finally, I had made a new friend that was not in the popular group and I was given an altimatum. I chose the new friend, not a lot of thinking had to be done.
Even though I was fairly shy I had a few select friends from every group in High School. I just wasn't made for those games. It still happens with adults too, especially in some work places, more suptle though. Like you badge, I've become more bold, even a bit of a rebel against some of the socially accepted BS.
