I'm waiting for biking weather to come and stay. I've been out a couple of times on my bike but everytime we get warmer weather, it either rains or is very windy.
In our personal lives, we continue to wait and see what happens with our pension and health care. GM is still doing very poorly and has no chance of recovery until the credit markets loosen up. Lord only knows when that will be. I get so angry at the morons on TV who make half a million a year complaining because Obama wants them to finally pay their fair share of taxes . . . probably for the first time in many years. On paper, it appears that they pay a lot of taxes, but by the time they "loophole" their way out of much of it, they don't pay near as much as those of us who are struggling to get by everyday. Socialism? Maybe, but it is time that the middle class stops being "screwed". Why can't we have a tax system that charges us a straight percentage without deductions. The only consideration should be how many people that one has to support. This "deduction" thing has gotten way out of hand. They left all of the deductions for wealthy Americans but took away many for the middle class . . . like credit card interest, car loans, etc. I think it was good ol' Ronny Reagan who did that to us. He also started the ball rolling with encouragement to big corporations to send jobs overseas to break the Unions. See where it got us? I always said that he should've been hung for treason!
I love the way that the Obama people are going through the budget and eliminating much of this wasteful spending. One of our News programs has a segment called "Its Your Money". They tell of many of the ways that our government is wasting our tax money, and some of it is appalling.
I guess only time will tell what the future brings for us, and how much Obama will really be able to accomplish. Right now, for us, things do not look good.
