16 weeks have come and gone and the final results are in. I had my final weigh-in and measurements taken for my Fit-for-Life Program.

I have lost 11 pounds and 18 inches!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!! I had lost 25 pounds just before I started the program so I have lost a total of 36 lbs. I have definitely been doing the happy dance!!

I have learned a lot. Protein burns fat. I had not been eating enough of it. I must have a protein, fat and a complex carbohydrate for every meal and snack. I must eat 1200 calories a day to keep my metabolism working properly. STARVATION DIETS DO NOT WORK.

I work out three days a week. I do 30 minutes of cardio, usually the treadmill and then do the "Circuit". These machines target specific muscles. There are 5 machines for the upper body and 5 for the lower body. These machines are responsible for the inches I lost. You may lose weight with cardio alone, and you may increase your metabolism, but the machines make the inches come off.

I tried a couple of new things too. I took a Stability Ball Class which I really enjoyed. Working with the large balls gives you a very good work out and does the same thing as the Circut. I actually bought a ball so I can do it at home.

I have also been taking a Yoga class. It's been good but I do seem to have a problem with balance. When you have to stand on one leg, bring your arms over your head and breath properly at the same time, it's a lot to think about all at once. It will take some practice. I have never done Yoga before and I don't think I will continue with it, but it does give you wonderful relaxation strategies. I will definitely continue with the meditation and creative visualization part of it.

I am very pleased with my progress and to do this at age 65 just goes to show you its never too late to start. I am more fit today than I was 20 years ago and that is a very good thing.
