My painting career really came about from a time of loss. From a time when my marriage had ended and this was a new beginning. It was really a healing process for me. And now it’s one of my great stories in life. The very exciting thing is that I’m doing one-woman shows all over the country. I’ve just finished one in Washington, DC, Georgetown and in Alexandria, VA where my paintings will remain for the next two weeks at the P & C Gallery. But the amazing thing was how people profoundly related to the paintings. It was an emotional response and it wasn’t just that they liked the image but they felt the emotions I put into my painting.
Although, I don’t want to make people cry, there were people who were actually crying at the art show in Washington, DC at the end of April, because if people relate to the message I’m trying to say or they just see the look in the person’s eye in my "Women In Red Dresses" series, they see the passion. They see the vibrancy. They see the energy, and they have their own emotional response to what it is that I’m saying in the paintings. A lot of the visitors to these shows are people my age, and they’re going through a time of great challenge, going through a very emotional time in their life. You know, everywhere I go, it’s either somebody dealing with losing a job or changing a career, with losing a loved one or losing relationships. And I think the important thing is they don’t want to lose themselves in these situations, but rather, they want to reinvent themselves from a very practical point of view. I never realized how much my paintings could really speak to people.
The best thing of all is to be able to embrace the moment, because we can’t know the future. We already know the past, but we live in the moment. In the moment we can actually do the best we can with our abilities and that’s how I feel I am right now. Passion is really at the center of all the projects I do whether as an artist, designing my home collection or writing my book, "Making Yourself at Home," or the documentary that I showed in Washington, DC to Congress very soon called “Running Dry” about the world’s water crisis, something I’m really very involved with and have been working on for a couple of years. More about that to come.

Thank you so very much for sharing your life with so many of us here. I just joined a little over a month ago, and have really enjoyed the atmosphere which Eons gives us. I will be putting you on my "Favorites" list.
Your painting of the Woman In Red Dress is just beautiful. You put a lot of thought and emotion into it. I wish I could paint, but God has blessed me with other talents, so I am going to enjoy the "brush of the hearts" of others and see what their thoughts put into the passion of their paintings/drawings! Once again, thank you for sharing with us! You are a sweet & beautiful lady!!
Have a wonderful week!! : )

Hi Jane,
I really love the painting of the lady's in the red dresses.
It's a funny thing about the color red, it has so much energy.I remember I used to go western dancing with my husband I I would wear black jeans and a red silk blouse..the red energized me, made me feel happy and alive. Who can be sad or in the dumps wearing red, and at Christmas time the bright red brightens everything up.
I bet you felt a lot better after painting the lady in red, and I noticed you were red a lot..good for you. Iadmire you as an actress but mostly as the wonderful loving person you are. And it's true what we give out, we get back if not from with those who who hurt us but what outhers offer us freely.
