Sunday we invited my son in law's brothers and their families for a cookout. He has 3 married brothers that live in our area and they each have kids. There were 9 little ones (under 6) running around in our yard. The brothers all married within a 2 year span. We made a slip and slide with 2 huge plastic sheets and a hose. My son came home for a couple of days and joined in on the fun. We had 22 family members here! We also made balloon animals and did face painting for everyone. We made hamburgers and hotdogs and some awesome potato salad. (My moms receipe).
My son in law and his family lived down here in Ala for about a year about 7 years ago. He has 12 (yes 12) brothers and sisters and is next to the oldest. The 3 oldest brothers fell in love and married local Ala. girls and then they all moved up to Vermont where they stayed for a few years. The wives of 3 got homesick and so they moved back here.
My daughter and her husband still live in Vermont. He works at a lumber mill as a grader and just about runs the place. We would love to see them move closer to home, but the job situation is pretty scarce for a lumber worker.
I have had so much fun playing with the grandboys!
Yesterday morning we slipped out and went to the park before their mom and dad woke up. Then we went to the childrens museum where they played for a few more hours. Mom and dad had much needed quiet time and were thankful for the break.
When we got back they were back on the road meeting cousins at a great little park that has a carousel, a small train, and a little kid size rollercoaster.
They came home after a few more hours and the boys past out. After about an hour and a half they were put in their car seats while they were still asleep to go to other cousins for dinner.
Busy Busy Busy.
Aaron and Jen (my son in law and daughter) have been putting them to bed around 9:00 and then they take the car and go out for a few hours alone. They say it has been so much fun to be able to go out alone and not worry about the boys and a sitter.
I cant belive its Thursday already. I have a few more parks and trips to Mc Donalds I need to squeeze in before they hit the road to Vermont.
The boys will be waking soon, so I just wanted to post this update for those who have been keeping tabs on me! Will write soon. I will enjoy one more cup of coffee before the boys wake up, hopefully!!!!
