A few weeks ago, I had the chance to be on the Today Show, taking Matt Lauer through a shortened, 6 item version of the Longevity Calculator that you have hopefully taken, here on Eons.
The 6 items are easily remembered by the acronym A-G-E-I-N-G (spelled the English way).
Begin with 89 years if you are a woman, 86 years if you are a man
A is for Attitude (do you have an attitude conducive to managing stress well.. lots of humor and optimism?) If you have this type of demeanor, don't add or substract anything. If you on't have it, then substract 5 years.
G is for genes. If you have long lived family members (dead or alive), for example over 90 years, add 10 years.. otherwise don't substract anything.
E is for exercise. If you don't exercise 30 mminutes a day, take away 5 years. If you do, don't add anything.
I is for interests for exercising your brain. If you participate in cognitive activities that are both new to you and difficult (such as the brain builders site on Eons), add 5 years. Otherwise, don't subtract anything
N is for nutrition. Here you subtract 5 years if you have a diet that is conducive to an unhealthy weight. If you have a healthy weight, not's add anything
G is for get rid of the smoking. If you smoke, take off 15 years.
