Last week we launched a new feature called BOOM it! Just like your favorite songs (like Unchained Melody, anyone???) moved to the top of the hit parade, BOOM it! is a way for you to move content you like (from Eons or other Web sites) to the Eons Top Rated lists on the homepage. It's your "vote" to share the stuff you really like with ALL the Eons community. Then, if lots of them like it, too, it will "move up the charts."

How do you BOOM it!?

Do it once, and you'll get the hang of it right away. You read an article or blog, see a photo or video, or come across a profound posting in a group. You know other people would enjoy it, too. Instead of doing the "copy URL/paste/make email list/send it" routine — just BOOM it! You vote by clicking in the BOOM it! box next to the headline. With one boom, your feature will appear on the Most Recent list on the homepage.

When other members BOOM it! too, the thing you boomed begins to move up the charts. (Okay, I can't help myself — did you buy the 45 of "The Way You Look Tonight?" I so loved that song! Sigh!!!) Anyway, with enough BOOM its! it moves to the "Most Popular" list. (How'd we do that??? Our whiz engineers developed a computer algorithm which factors in not only each "boom" but also the number of times the feature is viewed, commented on, and emailed to a friend.)

The main point is that if you like a feature, chances are others will too. And with BOOM it! you’ll influence what gets to the top of the charts on the Eons Homepage.

Other helpful resources on Eons

Other than my blog, here are four great resources to guide you on getting around on Eons:

4. "Help Me, Eons" Widget: Grab this widget from my Profile page to have a quick list of Help resources a click away for your Profile page.

Now, go out and BOOM it! Oh, and remember that you can BOOM it to things on other websites, too! They'll show up on the list just like Eons content! If it's great, we want to make it available to the Eons community — and you can make that happen.

Some Eons members have decided to drop me from their list of friends! Well — the indignity! Just kidding.

I can understand why some members might want to limit their "Friends" to people they know or meet on Eons, and I’m cool with that. But before you hit that "Delete link," here's why you should keep me on board. (And I promise I won’t interfere with your online life.)

As your official Eons guide, my blog is always the first place you'll get the scoop on new features on Eons, and I'll point out things you may not know about. My blog is your "go-to place" on Eons — where you can always find out what’s happening. Also, when you read my latest blog posting, you can click "All posts," and you’ll find all of my previous blogs as well.

If you delete me from your Friends list, accidentally or otherwise, go to my Profile page and click the Invite as a friend link. I promise you this: I’ll give it serious consideration! LOL.
