The REAL ME in my high school senior play (1968)

FINALLY, MY OWN WEBSITE (www.theloosebook.com)..... view link

I am generally very good at most things that I attempt. But for some reason, I have shied away from designing websites. My first computer was a Commodore-64 and I have been on the "World Wide Web" ever since it became available to the general public.

I encouraged and assisted my friends and family with getting screen names and talked them through "dial-up" service. Later, I insisted that everyone must have high-speed - no more waiting 15 minutes for a photo to download!

My son, who taught himself to design magnificent websites at age 14, with flash thingys and all manner of graphics, enabled me not to have to learn the process. He designed my business site for me but, with all of his other obligations, never had the time to do a personal site for his mother.

Thanks to my becoming comfortable with blogs and groups and interacting with people here on Eons, I finally ventured into the unknown world of web design. I first tried the application of choice by many, Macromedia Dreamweaver. I opened the program and all I could say was "DUH?!?" It was way over my head. So I did some research and finally found something that made sense for me and my beloved Mac.

Designing the site was second only to childbirth. And I had all of my children au naturel, no epidural, no gas, no episiotomy! Like a slave between cotton rows. In fact, my daughter came out in the hallway on the way to the delivery room! But that's a story you will hear about at another time!

After much ado, starts and stops, frantic HELP emails to the software designer, last week I finally launched my newest "baby" - my personal journal, a precursor to the autobiography that I am writing. So I invite you all to check out my new website called "The Loose Book" (view link), so named after a couple of huge scrapbooks that I started while a student at Howard University. Full of photos and what I thought at the time were "words of wisdom" - as much wisdom as a 20 year-old could have.

Enough about that here. You can read all about it at www.theloosebook.com. Be sure to click on the hyperlinks which while take you to hidden pages not listed in the Site Map. And let me know what you think. I have a personal blog called "Loosely Speaking" where you can comment about my vent of the day or week. Or you can make a general comment ABOUT ANYTHING on the "Say What?!?!" page. And don't be shy! If you know me from Eons, you know that I can take just about anything. I love honesty and I hate censorship. Please check back often. Bookmark the site. I think you will like it. It is about the person that you see in the photo here. The real ME - the dorky, bookworm who wore glasses and carried a violin case. It would be almost 40 years before I made it in People magazine as one of "The 50 Most Beautiful Women Over 50". And even now, I believe I won based on the essay submitted with my photo written by my two wonderful children.

Thanks for your support!
