I have been battling with my laptop since around 12:30 this afternoon when I had a brief power outage! I shut it down the correct way, and then went to do some chores while I waited for the power to come back on.

About an hour had passed and I came back to start the computer. It kept freezing and didn't recognize that it was connected to the Internet. LOL At first I was able to get online, etc., in Safe Mode, but then that went POOF too. I tried everything I could think of . . . I couldn't do a sys restore because it froze up and wouldn't let me access it.

I did manage to run a diagnostic test . . . which the laptop PASSED! Their idea of what is passable and mine are two different things BTW! And I restored the defaults. Then I restarted it and went downstairs to watch the end of DWTS!

The screensaver was on when I came back, so out of habit I disengaged it . . . and what to my wondering eyes should appear but my email notifier! And then I saw the blinking icon that means I am connected to the Internet! I have no idea why it is working but I am glad it is working.

And that is how I spent my Wednesday!!!!! Oh, and I must also mention that my backup to the backup laptop is a dinosaur that has only 200 MB of RAM and takes literally "eons" to boot up. And if you make the mistake of moving it . . . well, just say goodbye to anything you were working on because it will immediately lose power and shut down!
