Jeff talking with the team about the history of the Leap of Faith...

"Okay, so we're going to go on Go, not on 3... Ready? Okay, 1... 2... 3..." says Jeff.

Splash! Oops, ColdBlackHeart goes in early -- seems he wanted to get to the showers first.

"GO!" and we all jump in.

The water's great, not as warm as 2006, but warmer than 2007 by a lot! "Woohoo!" "Awesome!" "Yaaaaay!" I hear shouts all around me in the water. What an amazing, great feeling. Must admit, it gets easier each year. I swim to the end of the pier and climb up the ladder, dripping wet with a big smile plastered on my face. Wow!!!

It's the 3rd Annual Leap of Faith into Boston Harbor to celebrate the start of Eons, Inc. What???!!! Yes, we jump into Boston Harbor on or around this time each year -- the company was founded by Jeff Taylor on September 12, 2005. Even the Boston papers were buzzing about it:

How did this craziness start? I remember as we were getting ready to launch Eons on July 31 of 2006, that Jeff said he wanted to do something celebratory and exhilarating and challenging and a bit crazy to celebrate the company's 1-year anniversary. Somehow he came up with the idea of jumping in the harbor. Pretty soon, everyone in the company was asking each other, "are you going to jump; are you going to jump?" Of course I was!

All I could think of was the harbor's reputation for being so polluted. So I went online and found data that showed that the harbor was actually safe for swimming! Who knew! So I started to spread the word. No way was I going to miss out on this craziness! I just knew that if I didn't jump, I'd be kicking myself for not being part of the first "Leap of Faith."

The second year it was warmer out and sunny, so I kept telling everyone how warm the water had been the year before—and I was stunned when I jumped into that cold, cold water!

This is the company's most eagerly anticipated tradition. It's more than just a jump in the harbor; it's a bonding experience that brings us all together in a way that an all-hands meeting never could. My co-workers become my brothers and sisters, sons and daughters for that moment. We are one, and we all have faith in each other and in what we're doing. We know that we're leaping into the unknown and that it's going to be exciting and life changing and so much fun!
