I will DELETE any comments I deem derogotory or nasty in nature relating to Hurricane Victims. " THANK YOU "

Hurricane Ike has produced idiots outside the REGION of Disaster.

It's difficult to bring to light for those unaware and do not live in areas where Hurricanes occur.

I read a post earlier and appears the norm disasters bring out " IDIOTS " ... some, the same who felt the need to BITCH, MOAN & WHINE relating to Katrina now gear up for Ike's session relating to our Texas Gulf Coast.

Is become evident we unfortunately have those who are and can be so non-caring of others and make it quite clear they are people who care only about themselves. What a sad state of affairs it's become.

As a victim of Katrina along the Mississippi Gulf Coast I've heard it all before and I'm sure I will hear it once again now concerning Hurricane Ike.

Strangely enough I haven't seen BITCHING and MOANING relating to Hurricane Hanna who swirled her ass up and along the Eastern Seaboard and heading up North.

Hey, let bitching commence regarding Hurricane Ike.

I cant help but find it not only odd but also strange
raised in the South not once on EONS nor in my every
day life do I make a practice to bitch, moan, whine or complain regarding victims of disasters that occur in the North, West or in our Eastern regions of the United States.

Persons from the South don't feel a need to bitch, moan or complain regarding Ice Storms, Avalances or Homes falling down mountain sides & BTW where people have made it their choice to build their Homes knowing full well in advance there's nothing more then MUD as their base for foundations. ( Ah, Hello? ) ...

Nor do we bitch and moan about victims who unfortunately lose their homes and personal belongings and including people who have lost their lives because they choose to live in regions knowing areas are Earth Quake prone; Would they say these victims got what they deserve.

Nor do we bitch & moan about victims of Grass Fires which BTW do occur every year. Nor do people from the South feel a need to place blame on the Residents who made a choice to live in a area where they could burn to death or lose their homes; Nor do people from the South
complain about the cost to put out these Fires.

Relating to Disasters: ..
One comes to mind in MN the Birdge that collasped plunging people to their deaths and suddenly without warning. Makes me curious was the Bridge collaspe a fault of the people who got caught using the bridge on this particular day. Are the same people whinning about the cost of search & rescue operations same as they do with relation to Hurricane disasters. Thus far haven't heard anyone saying people in MN deserved what they got when the Bridge collasped.

Hurricane Ike - Houston Texas.
I was & still remain pissed about our Houston Mayor telling Houston Residents that did not live in low lying areas and those not included in evacuation zip codes to
remain at home, stay off the roads and highways to give evacuees room to get out of harms way. OMG, I thought to myself instantly this mans lost his MIND * and what do I think now - The man lacks a BRAIN.

The conclusion of a Mayors ignorance was when I watched this man tell other Houstonians' to remain in their Homes and prepare " Get ready to 'HUNKER DOWN'.

WHAT A COMPLETE ASSININE REQUEST FOR ANY OFFICIAL TO MAKE TO RESIDENTS. HE'S RESPONSIBLE & CONSIDERING IN A EMERGENCY SITUATION AS THIS IS AND WAS HIS JOB TO EVACUATE ALL RESIDENTS, NOT PICK & CHOOSE WHO GOES OR WHO STAYS.

THIS MAN CONFUSED NUMEROUS RESIDENTS IN HOUSTON.

MY DAUGHTER/SON IN LAW CONSIDERED STAYING AND SO DID MY YOUNGER BROTHER UNTIL I PITCHED A FIT DEMANDING THEY ALL EVACUATE.

NO WAY WOULD I HAVE SAT IDLY BY AND LET THEM REMAIN IN HOUSTON. I CAN SAY AT THIS TIME I'M HAPPY MY FAMILY TOOK ME SERIOUS AND LEFT THE HOUSTON AREA.

NO QUESTIONING THE SEVIRITY OF HURRICANE IKE OR WHAT IT COULD HAVE PRODUCED IN A AREA LESS THEN 60 MILES FROM THE PIN POINT WHICH WAS GALVESTON AS THE STRIKE ZONE.

HURRICANE IKE SPANNED OUTWARDS AS FAR AS 600 MILES. IKE WAS A HUGE STORM AS IT APPROACHED GALVESTON & TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION ONLY GOD KNOWS WHERE OR COULD BE CERTAIN THE PATH IKE WOULD TAKE AFTER MAKING LANDFALL.

DO KEEP IN MIND KATRINA REMAINED IN OUR AREA POUNDING OUR REGION NON-STOP FOR 12 HOURS CONTINIOUSLY AND IS THE PRECISE REASON WHY THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COASTAL AREAS WERE COMPLETELY DESTROYED.

" YES, I'LL SAY IT AGAIN, MAN'S A TOTAL IDIOT "

WThe Mayors very lucky this time around playing with peoples lives such as that when it could have cost Thousands of people their lives and for what:
A person in charge without a brain. No, wait let me teel you instead how lucky Houston Residents are that Ike's fury disipated some what before barreling thru Houston with winds still exceeding 110 mph and gusts of 130 mph. Ike came onto land as a Catagory 2 Hurricane but the water and winds were classifed as Catagory 3.

In a post I read was complaints about Parents, those who made choices to remain with Children in some areas. The posts stated those Parents should be brought up on charges relating to Child Endangerment for those Parents making the choice to remain with their Children.

Curious I guess how many would suggest charges be filed against a Mayor as " Child Endangerment " very same issue relating to this man telling Residents to remain in their Homes - prepare to HUNKER down and with Children. Yes, I'm curious.

In a post I read a Member claimed to have lived in Texas and stated they went through many Hurricanes; stated
each time they gathered belongings and ran to their Basement.

I dont know what part of Texas this person would have been living in BUT ?????????????????????????????????

As a Texan born & bred and can vouch for the fact in these immediate areas including Houston, Galveston, Webster, Surf Side, Clear Lake, Nassau, Texas City, Dickinson, League City, San Leon, Brazoria, Gilchrist, Port Bolivar, Crystal Beach, Port Arthur, Beaumont, Orange TEXAS and including numerous areas in our region Homes here do not have the luxury of Basements. As neither do homes in Florida or Louisiana and good reason being is the fact is due to the water table.

Oh, I'm not saying you cannot have a Basement, but the cost of putting in a basement in any of these regions would cost Home owners thousands of dollars and at that basements for safety aspects relating to Hurricanes in these areas would have to be constructed as totally & completely " WATER TIGHT " as to insure it's Residents wouldn't drown like RATS due to flooding which occurs and is caused by Tidal surges and or the possibility of backed up sewers which can and do occur during just from heavy rains without a Hurricane.

However, is different in our upper Texas regions and BTW which would be in excess of some 800 miles away from the Galveston and Houston areas. Such places would be in El Paso Texas and areas close to Oklahoma and Kansas. Now Homes in those states do have basements. Then again those regions are labeled - described as " TORNADO " country.

If you ever lived in Houston or the surrounding areas and experienced a Hurricane you'd know what to expect and most assured with respect to a Catagory 4 Hurricane prediction heading your direction. You would or should know better then to take serious anyone telling you to stay in your HOME and prepare to Hunker down.

I will say to you if you do then YOU'D be NOTHING MORE THEN A BIGGER IDIOT THEN A FOOL WHO WOULD TELL YOU TO REMAIN IN YOUR HOME.

People reside out side Hurricane areas are none the wiser the anticipation is for Residents until Hurricanes are close enough where it they can pin point or possibly predicted it's immediate strike zone and is never a sure thing and is another specific reason that a majority of time Residents do not evacuate.

There are Die Hards in different situations that will and do refuse to leave their homes but certainly isn't nor does it apply to persons and Hurricanes only. It also applies to persons who live in areas where Grass Fires are immenient as well. I just watched not long ago a Resident who refused to leave his home & remained thus resulting in saving his Home from burning to the ground.
Do I recommend doing as such, of course not but as I say there are those " DIE HARDS " who will refuse.

Another factor to considers when Officials wait too long to issue mandatory evacuations for areas and their waiting makes it then impossible for persons to get out of some areas.

Please do not assume it is always Residents who made it their choice to remain in these areas.

Outsiders also do not take into consideration prolonging evacuations until the last hours causes persons to be stranded on highways; Accidents, Vehicles Run Out Of Gas, Flats, Hoses Blow, Batteries drain; when evacs are prolonged Officials are playing Poker with peoples lives. You don't want to be caught on highways or roads and specifically in the dark of night.

What can happen close to a Hurricane making landfall: Not asking Residents to leave early enough persons are
caught by the storms outter bands (winds) from the storm start to affect areas hours in advance of Hurricanes making landfall and begin as early as a day before storms are scheduled to make landfall. In this situation again people are still on highways & roads & in the dark of night: Tornados are born & again can result in death for people in vehicles. Deaths resulted in Katrina and Rita for this very reason.

August 29, 2005 Katrina's projected stike zone was of course predicted as a direct hit for State of Louisiana which BTW for outsiders still un-aware is what I tot his very day feel sure is what fooled Mississippi Officials and up to the very last hours before she was to make landfall which I must say also included MS's Governor.

I don't think they anticipated Katrina would take the sudden and drastic turn she did and as the result she slammed into the Mississippi Gulf Coast. " AND " IS IN PART WHAT CAUSED A large MAJORITY OF MS RESIDENTS TO REMAIN IN THEIR HOMES.

" WHY " .... There was far too many of our Mississippi Residents that survived Hurricane Camille in 1969 and they had a false sense of security believing Camille was the worst storm would ever hit the Mississippi Coast.

Do I have to tell you how wrong these Residents were: No I dont, but can tell you majority of those persons died in Katrina and in the very same homes that were fortunate & had survived during Camille.

It's as I say precise results you'll get when and when you dont take these storms as serious enough. Things can and do change in a matter of minutes and with no waring ot time to RUN!

Houston:
Houston's operations are still not back nor will they be for some time. The Houston area did sustain major damage and areas sustained major flooding where-as these areas never before flooded.

The Houston Heights is the neighborhood where I lived after moving to Houston from Galveston as a Teen. I can tell you due to IKE some areas in the Heights had high water for the first time. I have a friend that had water on their and while standing watching from their window watched as a roof of one home came floating passed their location.

Flooding:
The Houston Heights in front of Friends Home never before had water to reach the curb, not before IKE nor during Houston's past occurance as referred to as their 100 Year flood.

As of today September 19, 2008 there are many areas still without power. Schools are closed and will remain closed until next week due to the power outages and also schools canot get the resources delivered presently.

Cyfair ISD reports that only 40 % of their operations staff has reported in & such a low percentage is due to the staff's personal Hurricane situations.

Anyone interested wants to know what's happening in Texas regions affected by IKE can visit local News sources below: The links provided are Houston; Galveston and the surrounding areas;

It is what it is * and I will continue to repeat to anyone who's never experienced a severe Hurricane:

You dont know and you wont know nor do you have any clue what so ever what occurs until you experience living through a Hurricane along with procedures associated
with these type Storms.
