I just realized my last blog was before I moved. So much has happened since that time it's hard to believe. Guess I should catch up!
The move went off without a hitch. Made the drive in 2 1/2 days. Turns out I should have taken longer but hindsight is 20/20. The drive was not too bad, except in Kansas when I was just moments in front of a tornado. Was kind of scary and exciting at the same time.
I wasn't feeling 100% when I got here, but chalked it up to needing to adjust to the altitude. Everyday I felt a little worse. Short of breath, food didn't taste good on the rare occasions when I had an appetite. I was sleeping all the time and couldn't even motivate to unpack my boxes.
On the 5th of July, my sister said she was taking me to urgent care. When we got there they checked my oxygen levels and it was very low, at 70. After an inconclusive chest x-ray, they decided I should head of to the emergency room. That lead to a CT scan of my lungs, then an ultrasound on my legs, and finally a diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. I was in the hospital for a week.
My recovery is going slow..still on oxygen. It's real hard to interview for a job pushing an oxygen tank around, so I'm still unemployed.
However, I'm here with my family near me and very glad to be alive. Everything else will eventually fall into place.
So...how was YOUR summer?
