As Facility Manager in the office building where I've worked for almost twenty years, I recently had to notify our outside tenants that the building was on the market and we expected it to sell in coming months. Even though we soon had a contract, the process is still expected to take considerable time. Until we know the closing date we can't say how long they have to move. So I frequently get the question, "Do you know anything yet?"
Uprooting a working office is a major undertaking, everyone wants to know as much as they can as soon as they can in order to make the transition as smooth as possible. Time to clean out those file cabinets and get things in order for the big move. And the first order of business is finding a place to land.
By now, we all have gotten the memo: at some date yet to be determined, our "lease on life" will come to an end. Have you made preparations for that big and inevitable move? And, most importantly, have you found a place to land? It is essential that you resolve this issue now, so that while you have your current dwelling you may enjoy it with the knowledge that the best is yet to come. Even now we can have the contract signed and sealed in preparation for that day. As the Apostle Paul put it:
For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. - 2 Corinthians 5:1-5
As Paul says, even though in this life we groan with the burden of keeping up this earthly home, and our best efforts at maintenance will not make it serviceable forever, we can have a guarantee of a new dwelling that is truly heavenly. You have the memo, make plans now!
