One of the best perks of working as a makeup artist in the production industry is the chance to work with medical professionals practicing cutting edge treatments. While on a recent assignment at the Boston Medical Center's Department of Nutrition, I had an informal consult with registered dietician Wendy Anderson about nutritional supplements for treating thinning hair. Wendy generously shared with me her recommendations for a cocktail of dietary supplements. Her protocol included biotin, zinc sulfate, flaxseed oil, and Omega-3 essential fatty acid supplements. I'm excited to report that an acquaintance of mine reported a cosmetically significant improvement in the thickness and texture of her hair and lashes after a 60-day trial. Incidentally, one of the better sources of Omega-3 supplements with the highest potency and purity is Omega Brite (www.omegabrite.com), developed by Andrew Stoll,MD, author of the "Omega-3 Connection".

BTW, I keep in my grooming kit "Toppik Hair Building Fibers" to add the illusion of fullness in sparse areas for my clients on camera. This product contains tiny color-matched hair fibers that intertwine with your own hair (www.toppik.com).

This blog is not intended to replace a medical consultation for hair loss. All maters regarding health should be supervised by a health care professional.
