I am signing up for the first time. How do I choose a valid Eons screen name?

Use only letters and numbers in your screen name – no spaces or symbols, and be sure to start your screen name with a letter. We have a 16 character limit on screen names.

Your screen name is your alias on the Eons website and is displayed on your Eons Profile, blog, Group posts and replies. If you wish to be more anonymous, choose a screen name that does not represent your real name (i.e., if you are John Smith, you may not want to choose a screen name of "johnsmith"). Many members choose a screen name that captures their personality, hobbies or interests.

Also, be aware that your screen name is one of a kind and no two Eons members can have the same screen name. If you find that the screen name you would like is already taken, you can choose another, or add some numbers to your screen name to make it unique.

Again, Eons screen names can only contain letters and numbers and must start with a letter. Please do not include symbols or spaces.

What is Eons?

Eons is the online community for spirited BOOMers who want to explore their passions, keep in touch with friends, connect with interesting people to share life experiences, and most of all have fun.

Does it cost anything to become an Eons member?

Nope! We offer a free website and there is no charge to join our community. Enjoy Eons with our compliments!

Please note: Eons features advertisers and other partners, such as game providers, that offer fee-based products and services. These products and services are optional, and you are not required to sign up for them to be an Eons member. If you do not want to be charged, please do not provide your credit card information.

What do I need to do to sign up for Eons?

From our sign up page, just provide us with your full name, email address, desired screen name, desired password, date of birth, gender and ZIP code. Type in the verification letters and/or numbers (we use this to help prevent automated sign-ups that lead to spam). Check off that you have read and agree to the our Terms of Use. Clicking on the Sign up button will complete the sign up process.

You should take time to review your privacy settings on Eons to be sure they are how you would like them.

Why am I being asked to provide my full real name?

Upon sign up, we ask you to provide your full name, the name people know you by so that if you choose, others can search for you on Eons by this name. If current friends or old school pals wonder whether you are an Eons member and you have set your privacy settings to allow this, they will be able to use your full name as search criteria. The search results will give them your screen name. And then they’ll be able to connect with you on Eons.

The full name you enter upon sign up must be at least two words, with at least two letters per word. You may use apostrophes and one hyphen in your name, but no commas. You may use a period at the end, e.g. for “Jr.” You must put a space between the words. Example: William Jo O’Donnell-Smith Jr.

If you would prefer that no one can search on your full name, then you will want to check your privacy settings.

I share an email address with someone else. Can we both sign up for Eons using the same email address?

Each Eons member must have a unique email address; therefore we do not permit multiple registrations on one email address. Many Internet service providers (ISPs) allow their subscribers to have multiple email addresses. Check your ISP’s help documentation or customer service for help setting up an additional email address. There are also many websites, such as Google, Yahoo or Hotmail, that provide free email accounts.

Can I sign up for Eons if I do not have a United States ZIP code?

The Eons sign up process now allows people of different countries to join Eons.

If you live outside of the United States, on the sign up page next to where it prompts for a U.S. zip code, click on the link titled "I live outside the U.S.". Then you can use the Country drop down menu to designate your country. You also have the option of entering your postal code.

I have already signed up, but I would like to change my Eons screen name. How do I do that?

Your screen name is your alias on the Eons website. You may change your Eons screen name ONE time after registering for the site. To change your screen name, go to your Account Settings page. At the top you can change your screen name by typing a new screen name into the box. Since screen names must be unique, be sure to check the availability and save changes.

Please note: Screen names can only contain letters and numbers and must start with a letter. Please do not include symbols or spaces.

I have forgotten my Eons password. How do I retrieve it?

On the log in page, click the Forgot your password link located below the log in box. Fill in your email address (the one associated with your Eons account). We immediately send your password information to the email address associated with your Eons account.

Please note: To ensure that your password retrieval email is delivered successfully to your email, be sure that Eons emails are not blocked by your spam filter. Please add eons.com to your allowed senders list. For assistance with your email system spam filter, please refer to your email help documentation.

How do I change my password?

To change your password:

  1. Go to Eons and log in.
  2. Click the Account Settings link located in the top middle area of the page.
  3. Click Change password link located in the Account Setting menu.
  4. Fill in your current password, a new password, then retype the new password to confirm it.
  5. Click the Save button.

How do I change the email address that is registered with my Eons account?

  1. Go to Eons and log in.
  2. Click the Account Settings link located in the top middle area of the page.
  3. Within the Personal Information page, change your email address in the box provided.
  4. Click the Save button.

I made a mistake when selecting my date of birth, gender, or ZIP code during sign up. How do I change these?

  1. Log in to Eons.
  2. Click the Account Settings link located in the top middle area of the page.
  3. From the Personal Information section, make your corrections.
  4. Click the Save button.

What does the "Keep me logged in" option mean on the log in page?

Eons allows you to store your log in information (your unique email address and password), making it even easier to start using Eons each time you open your browser or return to your computer. If you check the Keep me logged in box, you will remain logged in to your account up to 30 days even if you close your browser program. If you want to log out of your account on any of your computers you must click log out at the top of any Eons page for each computer.

For privacy and security reasons, Eons will automatically log you out and require you to log in again every 30 days. Also, it is important for you to leave the Remember Me box unchecked when logging in from a public access computer or any shared computer. The Keep me logged in feature should only be used on a personal and secure computer that you own.

Why is the "Keep me logged in" option only for 30 days?

We limit the Keep me logged in option for 30 days in order to help keep your Eons membership account secure. By periodically prompting you to enter your login information, it helps to assure ownership of the account. If you ever forget your login information, use the Forgot your password link and enter your email address to have your password emailed to you.

What browsers does Eons support?

Eons supports the following browsers:

  • On Macs: Firefox and Safari
  • On PCs: Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Whenever possible, please upgrade to the newest version of these browsers.

How do I cancel my Eons membership and deactivate my Profile?

If there is something on Eons you don’t like, please let the Eons Team know. If you still want to leave Eons and cancel your membership altogether, once you’re logged in, you can deactivate your account from the Accounts Settings page.

Deactivation will prevent you from logging in to Eons, remove your Profile, remove any connections you have made (Friends, Groups, etc.) and you will no longer receive emails from Eons or its members.

How do I reactivate my account?

If you wish to reactivate your Eons account, your account needs to have been deactivated because you made a request to the Eons Help Team or you changed your account status on Eons.com. Accounts that were deactivated due violations of the Eons TOU's will not be reactivated. To reactivate your account, log in as you would have prior to deactivating your account. You will be prompted with a green "Reactive my account" button. Click on the button and your account will be active.

What are HQ Registered Members?

Companies and organizations may join Eons as Registered Headquarter (HQ) Members. Humana, Nintendo Wii, Total Cereal, and others have set up HQ memberships so that they can be part of the Eons community. To become an official HQ Member on Eons, companies and organizations must have authorization from us and abide by the Eons Terms of Use. You can tell if a Profile is an official HQ Member by the HQ icon located within the Profile.
