How do I contact other members via Private Message?
If an Eons member has chosen to accept PMs (Private Messages), you can send a Private Message by following these steps:
- Click on a member’s screen name to open the member’s profile page. Note: You will find member screen names in group or blog postings, or by conducting a member search.
- On the member’s profile page, click the Send a Private Message link located in the yellow box.
- Enter a subject and a message in the boxes provided.
- When your message is complete, click the Preview button to see what it looks like and then the Send message button. Your message will be delivered by Eons to the member’s Eons inbox and they will be notified as well in their personal email if they have PM notifications turned on.
Eons does not display your email address unless you have chosen this in your privacy settings. If you do not want someone to have your email address, update your privacy settings and refrain from providing your email address to other Eons members.
Please note: After the member receives your Private Message, he or she may wish to respond. Make sure your privacy settings allow Private Messages if you wish to receive them.
How do I find Private Messages sent to me by other members?
When logged in to Eons, go to your Message Inbox by clicking on the envelope icon located at the top of the page or click the Message(s) link from your My Eons page.
In addition to finding your Eons Private Messages in your Eons Message Inbox, you may also opt to receive Private Message notifications in your email via your notification preferences. Email notifications of your Private Messages will bring you to your Eons Inbox where you can read your Private Messages and reply.
From the Eons Inbox, you can block particular members from sending you Private Messages and manage all of your Eons Private Messages with Sent and Trash features, as well as the My Folders feature.
Why am I not receiving any notification emails from Eons or Private Message notification emails?
If you are not receiving the weekly Eons Newsletter called the Eons Insider or notification emails, please check your email’s junk mail folder. Sometimes, emails can be mistakenly flagged as junk or spam by email providers. To ensure that Eons emails do not get delivered to your junk mail folder, be sure to make eonshelp@eonsmail.com an approved sender.
If you do not know how to designate approved senders, check the Help menu of your email provider. Refer to your email provider's help documentation for information on safe addresses and allowed senders.
How do I respond to a Private Message I received from another Eons member?
When you receive a PM (Private Message) email from another member, you will view the PM from your Eons Inbox. To reply to the Eons member’s message, click on the Reply button from within the message. You must be logged in to Eons to view the inbox.
Eons does not display your email address unless you have chosen this in your privacy settings. If you do not want someone to have your email address, update your privacy settings and stop from providing your email address to other Eons members.
To ensure that Eons emails do not get delivered to your junk mail, be sure to make eons.com an approved sender.
How to I prevent Private Messages from being sent to me?
If you do not want to receive any PMs (Private Messages) from members, you will need to change this in your Eons profile privacy settings, as follows:
- Log in to Eons.
- Click on the Account Settings link located in the top middle area of the page.
- Click on Privacy Settings from the Account Settings menu.
From here you can change settings so that no one can send you a Private Message.
How do I block Private Messages from specific members?
If you do not wish to receive any PMs (Private Messages) from a specific Eons member, please follow the steps below.
- Log in to Eons.
- Click on the envelope icon located at the top of the page or click the Message(s) link from your My Eons page.
- Click the Read link to open the Private Message from the member you want to block from sending you future Private Messages.
- Click the Block
link located in the yellow box to the right of the message.
How do I unblock Private Messages from specific members?
If you blocked a specific member from sending you PMs (Private Messages) and you wish to unblock them, please follow the steps below.
- Log in to Eons.
- Click on the Account Settings link located at the top of the page.
- Click on the Blocked Members link located to the far right side of the purple menu at the top of your screen.
- Follow the instructions provided to unblock a member.
Why won't it let me send more messages?
You have been temporarily blocked from using this feature because you exceeded an Eons limit that is based on the speed and quantity of use. These blocks prevent spammers from abusing the message features. Your privileges will be restored within 24 hours.
I accidentally deleted a message? Is there any way to get it back?
You first should check the trash folder. If the message is not there then there is no way to recover messages that have been deleted. Sorry.
