What is my Eons profile?

Your Eons profile is your way to outwardly express your life and your passions. Your profile contains all the information about you that others can see. You can easily restrict what parts of your profile people can see by editing you Privacy Settings.

I made a mistake when selecting my date of birth, gender, or ZIP code during sign up. How do I change these?

  1. Log in to Eons.
  2. Click the Account Settings link located in the top middle area of the page.
  3. From the Personal Information section, make your corrections.
  4. Click the Save button.

How do I add a background to my Eons profile?

Skins allow you to snazz up your Eons profile with various colored and themed backgrounds. Now from within the Skins Editor from your Eons profile, you can create your own skin or try a skin from the Skins Gallery.

To get to the Skins Editor and the Gallery:

  1. Log in to Eons.
  2. Go to your profile page.
  3. In the yellow box, click the Change my skin link.
  4. Click the Eons Skins Gallery link.

How can I control who can see my profile?

You should review the privacy settings on your profile to ensure they meet your own individual privacy desires. By using your privacy settings you may choose among six options for how you share your information: Only me, Only my real-life groups, Only my friends, Only my friends and real-life groups, Eons members, and Everyone. Of course, anything that you share with everyone, including your posts to a public group, can also be picked up by Internet search engines like Google.

To get to your privacy settings:

  1. Log in to Eons.
  2. Click the Account Settings link located in the top middle area of the page.
  3. Click the Privacy Settings link located in the Account Setting menu.
  4. Change any of the settings to your desired level of privacy.

What is a widget, and why do I want one?

A “widget” is a snippet of portable code that can be incorporated into a web page. These chunks of code cause a little item which is entertaining and/or useful to us to appear on the web page it is incorporated into. Some examples of widgets are weather widgets, mini-game widgets, news widgets, calculator widgets, even widgets that convert currency or units of measurement! On Eons, you can include a widget on your profile or My Eons page. To include a widget on your profile or your My Eons page, click the Add a widget link located in yellow box.

How do I find and add a widget?

To find a widget, go to the Widget Gallery view link.

To add a widget from the Widget Gallery view link:

  1. Log in to Eons.
  2. Click on the text under the widget you want to add.
  3. Add any custom information (e.g., for a local weather widget, you may be asked to enter your zip code).
  4. Click the Add Widget button.
  5. You will then be asked to choose to Add a Widget:
    to Profile—If you would like to add this widget so that others can see and share it, or
    to My Eons—If you would like to make this a private widget that only you can see (e.g. stock quotes, your Gmail messages, etc.)
  6. Click the one that you want.
  7. You will then see either your profile or your My Eons page and can scroll down to look at the added widget.

You might wish to contact members in The Studio Gallery group for help and suggestions.

How do I delete a widget?

To delete a widget

  1. Log in to Eons.
  2. Go to your profile page and scroll down to the bar on the right side that says, Widgets . . . Edit|Add.
  3. Under each widget, you will see an Update widget button and a Delete button.
  4. Scroll down to the widget you want to remove and click the Delete button.
  5. You will then see a message that the widget has been deleted.

What are Eons gifts?

A gift is a fun way to show your appreciation and affection to another Eons member or to share a laugh. Gifts combine an amusing graphical image with a short, personal message, to create a fun way to communicate on Eons. Gift credits are awarded to you each week that you participate in the Eons community.

Can I delete a gift that I have already sent?

You cannot delete a gift that you have already sent. Only the recipient can delete the gift.

Who can see my gifts?

Anyone who can see your profile can see your gifts. If you don’t want others to view your gifts, you can limit access to your full profile though your privacy settings. You can also determine who can send you gifts through your privacy settings.

Can I delete a gift that I have received?

Yes, you can delete a gift you have received. From your My Eons page, click on the Gifts link. By clicking on the received tab, you can delete gifts by clicking on the Delete link.

How do I delete a comment on my profile's Guest Book?

On your profile page under the Guest Book section, click on the Edit link, then click the delete link by any Guest Book comment you want to remove from your profile page.

How do I find other Eons members by their screen names?

To search for an Eons member by screen name:

  1. Type the screen name into the search box located in the upper right corner of an Eons page.
  2. Make sure the drop down menu option is for "People".
  3. Then click the Go button.

How do I search and connect with other Eons members who share my interests?

You can connect with other members by browsing member groups or even creating your own group! Eons groups are a way for members who share similar interests to discuss shared interests, hobbies and ideas by posting messages, replies and photos.

If you want to connect with an individual Eons member, locate a member’s screen name and send a private message. Each member’s profile who has chosen to accept private messages has a Send a private message link which will allow you to communicate with that member.

What are HQ Registered Members?

Companies and organizations may join Eons as Registered Headquarter (HQ) Members. Humana, Nintendo Wii, Total Cereal, and others have set up HQ memberships so that they can be part of the Eons community. To become an official HQ Member on Eons, companies and organizations must have authorization from us and abide by the Eons Terms of Use. You can tell if a Profile is an official HQ Member by the HQ icon located within the Profile.

Companies and organizations that join Eons as HQ Members want the chance to connect with you, our Eons members! These HQs offer valuable information, cool features, and special offers and sweepstakes!

What are Friends on Eons?

A Friend is someone who has accepted an invitation from you to be associated as Friends. The greatest impact of this relationship is that you can make certain things on your profile visible only to your Friends. In effect, it adds another layer in your privacy options. This is a two-way acknowledgment between you and another member that you like each other and want to be able to contact each other and stay connected easily.

What is a BOOM?

A BOOM is an endorsement from a member of the Eons community; like a high five or a thumbs up. Discover, share, and even promote the things that are important to you. See something you like? BOOM it!

BOOMed items can be found on the Eons homepage.

Where can I find my gifts?

The most recent gifts you receive will show up on your profile. If you don’t want others to view your gifts, you can limit access to your full profile though your privacy settings. You can also determine who can send you gifts through your privacy settings.

You can also view the gifts you received and given from your My Eons page by clicking on the gifts link. Here you will see the gifts you have received and given.

How do I add music to my profile?

The music players that you see on other members’ profiles are widgets. A “widget” is a snippet of portable code that can be incorporated into a web page. These chunks of code add a little item which is entertaining and/or useful to the web page where you add the widget.

Eons offers thousands of widgets in the Widget Gallery view link where you can look for a music widget, or you can add a custom music widget. Because of the wide variety of widgets available from many different websites, we cannot necessarily support every widget directly. You might wish to contact members in The Studio Gallery group for help and suggestions.

How do I block someone from sending me a gift?

Send a Private Message (PM) to EonsTeam (all one word) with the Eons screen name of the person from whom you do not want to receive gifts. At this time there is not automatic tool to block gifts.
